The Ooma Linx is the perfect accessory to expand your home telephone setup. With the Linx

device, you have the flexibility to hook up a telephone, fax machine or other telephony device

anywhere in your house where you have an available power socket. Set up is quick and easy –

Your box should contain an Ooma Linx device and a Quick Start Guide.

What do I need to use my Linx device?

You need an Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie that has been installed and is functioning

properly. You will also need a phone cord to connect the Linx to the telephone or telephony

device you want to use.

How do I set up my Ooma Linx?

To get started, plug the Linx device in to a power outlet close to your Telo Base Station or Phone

Genie. Press and hold the Page button for three seconds to initiate registration mode. The PAGE

button is either on the back or the top-right corner of the Telo Base Station or Phone Genie,

The system status indicator on the Linx will turn blue when the registration process is complete. If you see the system status indicator alternate between blue and orange, the Linx is downloading a software update. Do not unplug the Linx when it is updating its software.

Unplug the Ethernet cable from your modem and plug it into the HOME NETWORK port. The other end of this cable should be connected to the ethernet port on your computer. What do I do if I want to put my Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie somewhere that’s not near my modem or router? Sometimes a household’s Internet is set up in such a way that it would be inconvenient to put your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie in the same place as your modem or router.

The Play and Fast forward keys are lit blue You should only experience this if you have chosen the option to use your Ooma with a landline backup. When your Ooma device is offline and the Play and Fast forward buttons are turned on, it means that your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie cannot detect a phone line connected the the system. You can still pick up the phone and make calls, but you’ll be doing so through your landline. Check that your WALL port is plugged into a working phone jack.

Troubleshooting Voice Quality One of the core strengths of Ooma is its Quality of Service (QoS) feature, which can greatly enhance overall voice quality under congested network conditions. For example, if you are on an Ooma phone call and decide to engage in several bandwidth-intensive tasks (such as batch uploads of images, sending a large email attachment, or streaming video online), the person on the other end of the phone call may complain about call quality.

During the initial setup process, you will need your plug your computer into the Ethernet port of the Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie. After you have set up your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie to run on your home Wi-Fi network, you will no longer need a computer for it to function.

What if my home Internet connection is password protected? If you have enabled password protection on your home Wi-Fi connection, you can still use the Ooma Wireless Adapter. You will be asked to provide the appropriate network name and password during the setup process. What security and encryption protocols does the Ooma Wireless Adapter support? WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security protocols are supported.

Yes! After you set up the Wi-Fi adapter on a new network, your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie will remember your settings. Your Telo Base Station or Phone Genie will automatically connect to any saved wireless networks.
