Saw Chain

Chain Cutter Types

Full Chisel Chain

• Features squared, sharply pointed cutters that cut wood aggressively

• Great for professionals as the cutters allow the chain to move through wood quickly, but tends to dull

quicker

• Best used on cutting hardwoods where smooth cuts aren’t necessary, like cutting firewood or

downed trees

Semi-Chisel Chain

• Features rounded cutters

• Great for professionals and homeowners as the cutting edges dull more slowly when exposed to dirt

and debris

• Best used on softer, frozen, dirty, or dry woods

Low Profile Chain

• Features rounded cutters and is designed specifically with safety in mind, but does require more

sharpening than other types

• Great for beginners with low-horsepower chainsaws and electric chainsaws

• Best for pruning trees and cutting smaller logs

What type of lubrication should I use on my saw? Keep your saw's chain-oiling system filled with clean bar and chain oil. Our bar and chain oil is specifically compounded to provide extra high tackiness and prevent "throw off" even under adverse weather conditions. Never put used oil or old motor oil in your saw or on your chain. Used motor oil contains metal shavings that reduces the life of your bar and chain. Lubricating your bar and chain with used motor oil also voids your warranty.
