My smartphone won’t connect to the
mobile network
1 Try the suggestions above for weak
signals.
2 Turn off your phone and turn it on again
(see Turning your smartphone on/off
).
3 Perform a soft reset (see Performing a
soft reset).
My phone seems to turn off by itself
If a system error and reset occur, the
phone automatically turns on if it was on
before the reset. However, if your
smartphone can’t determine if your phone
was on before the reset, it does not
automatically turn on the phone (see
Turning your smartphone on/off
).
I can’t tell if data services are available
The following icons appear in the title bar
to indicate whether data services are
available:

Become familiar with low coverage areas
where you live, commute, work, and play, so
you know when to expect signal strength
issues.
Your phone is connected to a
UMTS network, but you are not
actively transmitting data. You can
still make or receive calls.
Your phone is on and a UMTS data
connection is active. You can make
and receive calls and transmit data
simultaneously.
Your phone is connected to a GPRS
(EDGE if available) network, but you
are not actively transmitting data.
You can still make or receive calls.
Your phone is on and a GPRS
(EDGE if available) data connection
is active. You can still make or
receive calls, but the data
transmission is automatically
interrupted during a call.
