The Backlight, Display, and LED
Using the backlight
On color models, the backlight illuminates the keyboard and on monochrome models, the
backlight illuminates the screen. On both models, the backlight is noticeable only in
relatively dark environments.
■ Press the power button twice to toggle the backlight on and off.
Note: When you turn on the keyboard backlight on a color model, the screen brightness
automatically dims to conserve battery power.
Adjusting the display
Color models
If necessary, you can adjust the colors on the screen and the brightness of the display.
1. Press Option and then press Q .
2. Use the scroll buttons, or drag the top slider, to adjust the color saturation. Move the
slider until you can clearly see the three shapes.
3. Hold Option and use the scroll buttons, or drag the bottom slider, to adjust the
screen brightness.
4. Hold Option and press Return to finish.
Monochrome models
If necessary, you can adjust the contrast of the display.
1. Press Option and then press Q .
2. Use the scroll buttons to adjust the contrast.
3. Hold Option and press Return to finish.
