Installing the desktop synchronization
software
BEFORE YOU BEGIN Check the following:
You must have Windows Media Player
10 or later installed on your computer if
you want to sync music, pictures, and
videos.
If you are installing on a computer at
work, make sure your company allows
you to install new software. Contact
your company’s IT department for help.
1 Close any applications that are currently
running on your computer, including
those running in the background. Your
computer must have all its resources
available to install the software.
2 Insert the Getting Started CD into the
CD drive on your computer.
3 Follow the onscreen instructions during
the installation. The Install program
prompts you to connect your
smartphone to your computer and
synchronize for the first time.
Using ActiveSync desktop software
After you install ActiveSync desktop
software, synchronization happens
automatically anytime you connect your
smartphone to your computer, as
described in the next section. However,
you can open the ActiveSync window on
your computer to do tasks such as the
following:
Install applications from your computer
to your smartphone (see Installing
applications from your computer) or to
an expansion card inserted into the
expansion card slot on your smartphone
(see I
nstalling applications onto an
expansion card)
Change which applications synchronize
Enter settings to synchronize wirelessly
with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
