J Notes on the use of DVD
z DVD drive
To acquire the picture from a DVD or to record data to a disc,
a DVD drive that can read and record on each disc is
required. (For the operation method, refer to the operating
instructions of your PC or drive etc.)
If the drive is being used by another software (Explorer, etc.),
the drive cannot be used with this software. Close the
software before using the drive with this software.
(If the drive is being used by this software, the drive cannot
be used with another software.)
Before using this software, ensure that the transfer mode of the
drive is set to [DMA]. If it is not set to [DMA], set it to [DMA] by
referring to the operating instructions of your drive. (It may be
impossible to set it to [DMA] depending on your PC.)
z
Treatment of discs
For treatment of the respective discs, refer to the operating
instructions for PCs and DVD drives too. Note that stained or
damaged discs may be impossible to record onto and read.
A disc may not be recognized or data may not be recorded
properly even if the drive supports the discs, due to the
affinity between the disc and the drive. Select discs that are
recommended for the drive by referring to the operating
instructions of the PC and the drive.
z
Operation during recording
If the following actions are executed while the data is being
recorded onto a disc, recording may not complete properly,
and the disc, device, or data may be damaged.
-Operations for user switching or logging off from Windows
®
.
-Operation of other recording software.
-Connection cables for a PC or a DVD device (an external
DVD drive) are inserted or removed, or the power is turned
on or off.
-Other USB devices such as SD card reader are installed or
removed.
-This software is forcibly closed.
z
Playback and use of produced discs
Discs created in AVCHD standard cannot be accessed with
software that does not support the AVCHD standard.
Also, because the filing system uses a UDF 2.5 format, the
files on the disc cannot be checked on a PC using Windows
®
Explorer unless UDF 2.5 has been installed.
For DVD-R with dual layer on single side, motion pictures
may be frozen or sounds may be inaudible for a moment
when shifting from the first layer to the second layer,
depending on the player.
Do not delete or revise the folders on the discs and the files in
the folders. The data may not play back.
