To cancel a picture quality change if you
selected “Now”
Press and hold [RETURN ] for more than
3 seconds.
To cancel a picture quality change if you
selected “During standby”
After performing steps 1–2 (> 57, Editing
recorded programmes)
1 Select “Picture Quality Change” in “Edit”, then
press [OK].
2 Select “Yes”, then press [OK].
To check to see if a picture quality change is
finished
Press [VIDEO MENU].
e.g.,
When “±± > ±±” (Picture quality change
display) is displayed, the process has not finished
yet.
• To use “Picture Quality Change”, the HDD needs enough
storage capacity.
• Teletext will not be recorded.
• If “During standby” is set for the Picture Quality Change
function, the change being applied stops when this unit is
turned on. The process will start from the beginning again
once the unit is switched to standby mode.
• When the picture quality is changed, 3D information may be
lost.
• When the picture quality of a programme is changed, its
new audio and subtitle language settings will be determined
by the following settings:
- “Multi Audio” and “Subtitles” in “Preferred Language”
(> 87, 89)

Encrypted programmes ( ) can be decrypted
manually.
• If an encrypted programme ( ) is
included, “Now” cannot be selected.
• During standby
A picture quality change starts after the unit
is switched to standby mode.
5 Select the item below, then press [OK].
Delete:
The original programme will be deleted to save
the storage capacity of the HDD after the
picture quality is changed.
Keep:
The original programme is retained even after
the picture quality is changed.
• The original programme will be deleted after
Picture Quality Change, if the selected
programme is indicated with . (> 10)
6 If you have selected “Now”:
Select “Start”, then press [OK].
If you have selected “During standby”:
Press [OK].
• Picture quality change will be performed after
the unit is switched to standby mode.
“COPY” or “CONVERSION” on the front
panel display stay lit while a picture quality
change is in progress.
• The picture quality of encrypted
programmes ( ) will be changed after
they are decrypted.
Programme Decryption
1 Select “Programme Decryption” in “Edit”, then
press [OK].
2 Select whether to delete the original
programme or not, then press [OK].
•Yes
The original programme will be deleted to
save HDD capacity after decryption.
•No
The original programme remains after
decryption.
3 Select “Start”, then press [OK].
Decryption starts.
“Decrypting” appears during decryption.
• When a programme that is copy protected
(One generation copy is permitted) is
selected, the original programme will be
deleted after decryption. (> 10)
