User Authentication Chapter 1 The User Authentication works for the devices under the management of the Windows Server. As a result, users must be authenticated before they can use the functions of the machine (copying, faxing, scanning, and printing). The supported authentication protocol is NTLM v2. Windows Server - Windows 2000 Server - Windows Server 2003 or - Windows NT Server 4.0 & Exchange Server 5.
Job Tracking The Email to the administrator includes the name of the machine user, destination, and communication time, together with the image of the document that was sent or received. Fax Transmission and Reception via PSTN. 2. Email Transmission to an Internet Fax, or a PC. 3.
Login Procedure (Using Copy/Fax/Scanner/Printer) Chapter 2 Users must enter the login name and the password before using any devices which have the User Authentication function enabled. Authentication is performed using the user's Windows account. A login screen appears if user authentication is enabled. Select "Password", and then enter your password (Up to 40 characters), and then select "OK" . The password is case-sensitive.
This completes the authentication. Chapter 2 NOTE Using Machine After completing the authentication, you can use the selected function (copying, faxing, scanning, or printing) . If the authentication fails, one of the following messages may appear. Message Explanation Authentication Failed The login failed. Check your user name and password. Check whether the Date and Time is set properly.
Authentication Setting Chapter 3 The system administrator can enable/disable the user authentication for each function (copying, faxing, scanning, and printing). Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "75 User Authentication". Select "09 Key Operator Mode". Select the function where authentication is required, and then select "OK".
Selects the copy function. Fax Selects the fax function. Print Selects the printer function. Scan Selects the scanner function. Enter the system administrator name, and then select "OK". Chapter 3 Copy Note: The Sender Selection feature is not enabled if the fax function is set to require user authentication. Registration of Domain Name Chapter 3 This sets the NetBIOS domain names and DNS suffix to use for user authentication. Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "78 User Auth. Domain". Select "09 Key Operator Mode". Select the number ("No. 00" to "No. 09"). You can set up to 10 domain names.
Enter the NetBIOS domain name, and then select "OK" . (Up to 15 characters). Select "Cancel" to return to the number entry field display. Chapter 3 Enter the DNS domain name, and then select "OK". (Up to 60 characters). Setting Machine Eg: pana01 Press the Reset key to return to standby. Eg: panasonic.com Note: If your Windows network is configured with Windows NT Server 4.0 and Exchange Server 5.5, enter the Exchange Server Name (FQDN), or the IP Address on the Step 8.
ID Timeout Setting Chapter 3 If the ID Timeout Setting is set to "Auto Rst", authentication is cancelled if no operation is performed on the machine for a specified time period after performing authentication. The ID timeout period is set by the "Auto Reset Time Setting" on page 16. Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "76 ID Timeout". Select "09 Key Operator Mode".
Select the ID Timeout setting, and then select "OK". Chapter 3 An authenticated user will be logged out if no operation is performed on the machine for a specified time after performing authentication. EveryJob An authenticated user will be logged out when the operation performed is completed. Press the Reset key to return to standby.
Auto Reset Time Setting Chapter 3 This sets the ID timeout period when "Auto Rst" is selected for ID Timeout Setting. Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "13 Auto Reset Time". Select "09 Key Operator Mode". Select the timeout for canceling authentication, and then select "OK". Note: If "None" is selected, the authentication will not time out, regardless of the elapsed time.
Logon Attempts Setting Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "77 Log-on Attempts". Select "09 Key Operator Mode". Select "Input" and enter the number of logon attempts, and then select "OK". Unlimited login attempts is allowed if you set "0". Press the Reset key to return to standby.
Lockout Time Setting Chapter 3 This sets the time period (minutes) for the system lockout when the permitted number of logon attempts is exceeded during the user authentication. Wait for the Lockout Time period to lapse before you are permitted to logon to user authentication. Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "79 Lockout Time". Select "09 Key Operator Mode".
Authentication Method Setting Press the Function key. Enter the Key Operator's ID Code (4 digits), and then select "OK" . Setting Machine Select "General Settings". Select "74 Authentication Method". Select "09 Key Operator Mode". Select the authentication method, and then select "OK" . NTLM Selects NTLM. Clr Text Selects CLEAR TEXT. Chapter 3 This specifies which authentication method to use by the User Authentication function. Press the Reset key to return to standby.
Job Tracking Setting Chapter 3 This enables or disables Job Tracking. If Job Tracking is enabled, also set the type of log to record and the Email address to which it is to be sent. Note: Before performing this setup, you first need to register the destination Email address for the log in the address book. Furthermore, change the setting of the Fax Forward (Fax Parameter No. 54, Fax Forward) parameter to Invalid.
Select "131 Job Tracking". Select the printout method for the received document(s), and then select "OK". Inc Prints only if the log was unable to be sent to the specified destination. On Always prints. Press the Reset key to return to standby. None Disables Job Tracking. Tx Records sending (Transmit) only. Rx Records receiving only. Tx & Rx Records sending and receiving. Select the Email address to which to send the log, and then select "OK".
Administrator Login Chapter 4 This confirms the system administrator who manages the Panasonic machine. After logging in to the machine, the system administrator can set up the authentication function. Appendix The login screen appears if the user authentication function has been enabled. Select "Domain", and then select "10 Local Machine", and then select "OK" . Select "User ID", and then enter the administrator name, and then select "OK" . Select "OK" to start the authentication process.

Chapter 4 The user name and password for the system administrator are established in "Authentication Setting" on page 10 when user authentication is enabled for the first time.
