Chapter 1 Basic Operation Procedure Getting To Know Your Machine Chapter 1 This section describes the workflow of Scan/Email operations. For a detailed description of each setup item involved, refer to the relevant suggested section. z The DP-C323/C263/C213 models require the optional Hard Disk Drive, Main Memory, and Image Memory for Scanner Function operation. 1 Place the original(s). Getting To Know Your Machine Face Up. Up to 70 sheets (80 g/m2). 2 3 Press the Scan/Email key.
4 Transfer Scanned Image to: Select the location, or destination. When a desired destination is selected from the address book, a reception notice appears on the destination. z Refer to the Scan to a Computer (see page 18). Scan to Email SD memory Card, or PCMCIA/PC Card z Refer to the Scan to Email (see page 20). 5 Press the Start key. Select “SD Card/Hard Drive”, and then select “SD Card”, or “PC Card”. z Refer to Scan to the SD Memory Card (see page 10).
Sending an Email Chapter 1 • There are two ways of sending the scanned data via Email. • Sending an Email using the Scan/Email Function : For DP-C323/C263/C213 models, available when the Scan/Email Option is installed on your machine. • Sending an Email using the Internet Fax Function : Available when Internet Fax Option is installed on your machine Scan/Email Function Colour Original Getting To Know Your Machine 8 Sending an Email using the Scan/Email Function or Monochrome Original Select “Email”.
Internet Fax Function Chapter 1 Monochrome Original Sending an Email using the Internet Fax Function Select “Email”. Internet Fax Device • TIFF • PDF z Each Email function can be set in the Fax/Email Settings. Refer to the Chapter 4 Fax/Email Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. PDF file can be printed when the optional Printer Controller Module (for Adobe® PostScript® 3TM) is installed on your device.
Chapter 2 Scan to the SD Memory Card Chapter 2 The scanned image will be directly transferred to the SD Memory Card. Scan/Email Operations z Be sure to use only Genuine SD Memory Card. (Up to 1 GB) z The scanned image(s) cannot be saved to the SD Memory Card if the setting of Function Parameter “84 SD/PC Card Function” (General Settings > Key Operator) is set to “No”.
6 1 Push the Slot Cover to open it. 8 Scanned image is saved in the following directory of the SD Memory Card. z Directory: \PRIVATE\MEIGROUP\PCC\DI\IMAGE 2 Insert the SD Memory Card as illustrated. (Label side up). Select “SD Card”. z The data saved on the SD Memory Card can be printed by this machine or another DP-C354, DP-C264, DP-C323, DP-C263 or DP-C213. For more details, refer to Printing from SD Memory Card/PC in the Operating Instructions (for Basic Operations).
Scan to the PCMCIA/PC Card Chapter 2 The scanned image will be directly transferred to the memory card into the PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter. Scan/Email Operations z Be sure to use only PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter (Type II, 3.3 V Operating Voltage Only) for memory card. z For types of memory cards that can be used with the PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter, refer to the document that came with the PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter.
6 Insert a PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter with a memory card. 8 9 7 Select “PC Card”. The scanned image is saved into the PCMCIA/PC Card. The scanned data is saved on the following directory of the memory card. z Directory: \PRIVATE\MEIGROUP\PCC\DI\IMAGE z The data saved on the memory card in the PC Card Adapter can be printed by this machine or another DP-C354, DP-C264, DP-C323, DPC263 or DP-C213. For more details, refer to Printing from SD Memory Card/PC in the Operating Instructions (for Basic Operations).
Scan to the Internal Hard Disk Drive Chapter 2 Scan/Email Operations 14 The scanned image can be saved to the Internal Hard Disk Drive, then the saved data can be retrieved using a computer via a network. Hard Disk Drive z The Hard Disk Drive is provided with 12 image boxes. For instructions on how to change the image box name, refer to Editing Image Box Name (see page 58). z All data saved on the Hard Disk Drive can be deleted with a scanner function.
6 Select an Image Box in the Hard Disk Drive. Chapter 2 7 Scan/Email Operations z Only one Image Box can be selected at a time. z When the Hard Disk Drive is selected to be the storage destination, the scanned image cannot be saved to the SD Memory Card, or PCMCIA/PC Card at the same time. z If the setting of Function Parameter “02 Scan to HD Function” (Scanner Settings > Key Operator) is set to “No”, the Confirmation screen displays an “Function not available” error message and beeps.
Retrieve Scanned Image from Hard Disk Drive Chapter 2 Scan/Email Operations 16 1 2 Start a Web Browser, such as the Internet Explorer, on your computer. 2 Select an Image Box where image data is saved. Enter the IP Address that has been set on this machine. Ex: http://10.74.232.130 z Machine Status will be displayed on the Web browser. 3 Select a file where image data is saved. z Open it with a left-click, and save it with a right-click of your Computer's mouse.

Scan to a Computer Chapter 2 The scanned image will be transferred to desired computer. Scan/Email Operations z Before transferring the scanned image to your Computer, it is necessary first to install the Panasonic Document Management System software, and then setup the scanner configuration on your Computer. Refer to the Operating Instructions (For Setting Up) of provided booklet. z Computers (with the following settings) on the network are automatically displayed in the Address Book.
4 Select “Address Book”. 7 Press the Start key. z When scanning from the Platen Glass, place the next original, and then follow the instructions described on the touch panel display. 8 Select an alphabet tab. The Quick Image Navigator software starts. z For more details, refer to the Operating Instructions (Panasonic Document Management System) on the provided CD-ROM. Scan to Email Chapter 2 The scanned image can be emailed to network connected computers. z JPEG (jpg) file is not available for multiple pages. z JPEG (jpg) file is only available in Colour/Grey Scale mode. z TIFF file is only available in Monochrome mode. When sending a multi-page colour document: Scan/Email Operations z When attaching a multi-page colour document in JPEG/PDF (except Compressed PDF) file, the machine sends an individual Email for each scanned page.
4 Select an alphabet tab. Scrolling through pages To scroll to the previous page Current page Total number of pages Input the subject if necessary. z If the Function Parameter “21 Default Subject” (Fax/Email Settings > User Parameters) has been set, the information is added to the Subject Line for all outgoing Emails without having to input it manually. For programming instructions, refer to Fax/ Email Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM.
8 Select “Close”. 11 Press the Start key. Transferring the scanned image(s) to Email. Chapter 2 z When scanned image transfer fails, a transfer error message is printed out. Scan/Email Operations 9 To confirm the selected, or inputted Email Address. 1 Select “Addresses: ###”. (###: Number of selected Email addresses) 2 Select “OK”. 10 Select “Basic Menu” to configure the required settings, and then select “OK”. Refer to Scanner Settings (see pages 40 to 53).
Email Addressing from LDAP Server z This function is available where the LDAP Server is configured. For setting of LDAP Server, refer to Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on provided CD-ROM. 1 Place the original(s). Select “Global”. 7 Select “Search”. z For instructions on how to place originals, refer to Basic Operation Procedure (see page 6). For more details, refer to Placing Originals (Copy) in the Operating Instructions (for Basic Operations). 2 3 4 Press the Scan/Email key.
8 Select a computer, and then select “OK”. 11 Input the subject if necessary. Chapter 2 z If the Function Parameter “21 Default Subject” (Fax/Email Settings > User Parameters) has been set, the information is added to the Subject Line for all outgoing Emails without having to input it manually. For programming instructions, refer to Fax/ Email Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. 1 Select “Subject”.
Add an Email Address to the Address Book 1 2 5 Select “Add to Local”. 6 Select “Edit”. Select “Email”. Select “Keyboard”. 7 4 Input an Email address. Input a station name and a key name, and then select “OK” to edit the station name and key name selected in step 5. Scan/Email Operations 3 Press the Scan/Email key. Chapter 2 Email addresses that have been entered from the Scan/Email basic screen can be added to the address book. Ex: pcc@panasonic.com z Up to 60 characters.
8 Select “OK” to register the Email address as a station. Chapter 2 Scan/Email Operations 26 9 Select “OK”. z For the following steps, refer to steps 6 to 11 in Scan to Email (see pages 20 to 22).

Sending an Email with Image File Attachment Chapter 2 The image data saved on the SD Memory Card, the PCMCIA/PC Card, or the Internal Hard Disk Drive can be emailed to network connected computers. z Original is not scanned in this operation. The image data that has already been saved on the storage device can be attached. z Only one storage device can be selected. The image file on the different storage device can not be attached to an Email at a time.
4 Select “Attachment”. If you do not touch any key for 3 seconds, or select “Close” on the touch panel display, the machine will display the previous screen. For more details, refer to General Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. Select “SD Card”.
7 Select an alphabet tab. Chapter 2 For programming instructions, refer to Fax/ Email Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. 1 Select “Subject”. Scan/Email Operations z When inputting the Email Address manually, select “Keyboard”, and then input an address. Refer to the Add an Email Address to the Address Book (See page 25). z When searching for address(es) via LDAP server, refer to the Email Addressing from LDAP Server (See page 23).
13 Push the SD Memory Card, and then remove it. Chapter 2 14 Close the Slot Cover. Scan/Email Operations z Do not remove the SD Memory Card while the Access Indicator is flashing.
Attach Image File on the PCMCIA/PC Card Chapter 2 The image data saved on the memory card in the PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter can be emailed to network connected computers. Scan/Email Operations z Be sure to use only PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter (Type II, 3.3 V Operating Voltage Only) for Memory Card. z For types of memory cards that can be used with the PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter, refer to the document that came with the PCMCIA/PC Card Adapter.
5 Scrolling through pages Select “PC Card”. Current page Total number of pages To scroll to the next page 6 Select one or more Thumbnail(s), and then select “OK”. z Only JPEG files are displayed by thumbnail form. Some JPEG files may not appear as thumbnail. z Up to 80 image files in a folder can be selected at a time. z Only one folder can be selected at a time. 7 Select an alphabet tab. Scan/Email Operations z Only one storage device can be selected at a time.
8 Select an Email address. 2 Input a subject, and then select “OK”. Chapter 2 Scan/Email Operations 9 Select “Cc”, “Bcc” and/or “From” address field, and follow the same procedures as in steps 7 and 8 if necessary. z If the Function Parameter “145 Sender Selection” (Fax/Email Settings> Fax Parameters) is set to “Valid”, you can preset up to 25 sender names. You can select from the sender list when sending an Email.
z Do not remove the PCMPIA/PC Card Adapter while the Access Indicator is flashing. Chapter 2 14 Close the Slot Cover.
Attach Image File on the Internal Hard Disk Drive Chapter 2 The image data saved on the Internal Hard Disk Drive can be emailed to network connected computers. Scan/Email Operations z The Hard Disk Drive is included with DP-C354/C264, and it is available as an option for DP-C323/C263/C213. z Confirm the card slot so that nothing inserted. If SD card or PCMCIA/PC card is inserted, Hard Disk Drive cannot be selected. 1 2 1 Select a image file in File List, and then select “OK”.
2 Input a subject, and then select “OK”. z When inputting the Email Address manually, select “Keyboard”, and then input an address. Refer to the Add an Email Address to the Address Book (See page 25). z When searching for address(es) via LDAP server, refer to the Email Addressing from LDAP Server (See page 23). Select an Email address. 9 7 8 z Up to 40 characters.
Receiving an Email Chapter 2 This function is only available when the optional Internet Fax Module (DA-NF320) is installed. If the machine connects to a network as a POP Client, it can receive an Email, and print the attached file either automatically, or manually. The Email reception method from a POP Server varies depending on the POP settings programmed in Function Parameters.
Receiving Email Manually z With POP acquisition interval set between 1 and 60 minutes, queries are transmitted to the POP Server periodically to check for new mail, and the number of the incoming Email messages on the server appears on the display. Press the Fax key. Check for incoming mail(s). 3 Select “Basic Menu”. 4 Select “Get Email”.
Chapter 3 Setting the Scanning Quality Scanner Settings Chapter 3 Documents, whether in Full Colour or Monochrome, are scanned in three-colours. z Colour mode settings are reset to their factory defaults when: -The Reset key is pressed. -The Auto Reset Time interval has lapsed (default = 1 min). -The power is turned OFF. -A scan job is completed. Scanner Settings 1 2 Press the Scan/Email key. Quality Adjustment Select “Basic Menu”.
Setting Original Type and Scanning Density Text/Photo Photo Adjusting Scanning Density Darker Lighter z The standard setting of “Original Type” and “Density” can be changed, refer to Scanner Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. Selecting Original Type Adjusting Scanning Density 1 1 Select the original type, and then select “OK”. z If the above screen is not displayed. (See page 40, steps 1 to 3) Text Mainly a Text original.
Scanning Resolution Chapter 3 You can set the appropriate resolution according to your originals. z The standard setting of “Resolution” can be changed, refer to Scanner Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. z Resolution settings are reset to their factory defaults when: -The Reset key is pressed. -The Auto Reset Time interval has lapsed (default = 1 min). -The power is turned OFF. -A scan job is completed.

Advanced Colour Quality Settings Chapter 3 The following picture qualities can be adjusted: Scanner Settings z The standard setting of “Compression (Full Colour)”, “Compression (Grey Scale)”, “Compression (Black)”, “Background Removal”, and “Contrast” can be changed, refer to Scanner Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM.
Select “OK”.
Chapter 3 Compression (Grey Scale) Compression (Black) Selects picture quality, and then compression mode in Grey Scale mode. Documents can be scanned with a Monochrome setting. 1 2 1 2 Scanner Settings 3 Select “Adjustment”. (See page 44) Select “Compression (Grey Scale)”. Select an image quality, and then select “OK”. Transferring Speed Faster Standard Slower Picture Quality Lower Standard Higher 4 3 Select “Compression (Black)”. Select a compression, and then select “OK”.
Contrast Colour documents can be scanned in monochrome with their background removed. This feature is convenient for scanning newspapers, background-coloured documents or the like. The scanning contrast can be adjusted to match the original. Higher z When the Photo original is selected in the Original Type (see page 41), this Background Removal setting is not available. z With the Background Removal function, if a Compressed PDF is specified as a file type, levels 1-6 can be selected.
Setting the File Type and/or File Name Chapter 3 Documents can be scanned with a file type specified. While files are named after their date by default, documents may also be scanned with a file name specified. z The standard setting of “File Type and Name” can be changed, refer to Scanner Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. Scanner Settings z The “File Type and Name” setting is reset to its standard setting when: -The Reset key is pressed.
5 Select a File Name type. To enter File Name 2 Enter a file name by using the on-screen keyboard, and then select “OK”. Scanner Settings z When the Date/Time is selected for the File Name, the file name will automatically default to Date/Time format. Chapter 3 1 Select “Custom”. z Up to 20 characters. z When scanning to the SD Memory Card or PCMCIA/PC Card, display limitation is up to 8 characters on the screen in lower case letters.
Scanning Special Originals Chapter 3 Scanning 2-Sided Originals 2-Sided Originals can be scanned, and the binding position is selectable. The standard setting of “2-Sided Original” can be changed, refer to Scanner Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. Scanner Settings 1 Place the Original(s) on the ADF. 5 Select a bind position, and then select “OK”. z For instructions on how to place originals, refer to Basic Operation Procedure (see page 6).
7 Press the Start key. Chapter 3 z When cancellling the operation, press the Stop key on the Control Panel, and then select “Yes” on the Touch Panel Display.
Scanning Special Originals (Thin Paper, etc.) from ADF Chapter 3 SADF Special originals (like thin paper, etc.) can be fed from the ADF, and scanned continuously using the Job Build and SADF Mode. 1 Place one original. (Minimum 50 g/m2) 5 Scanner Settings z For instructions on how to place originals, refer to Basic Operation Procedure (see page 6). For more details, refer to Placing Originals (Copy) in the Operating Instructions (for Basic Operations). 2 3 Press the Scan/Email key.
Job Build Ex: To make quality adjusted scanning of 100-sheet of originals. (a) Place the first 70 sheets of originals on the ADF. (b) Select “Basic Menu”, and choose “Job Build and SADF”. (c) Select “Quality Adj.” menu, and choose the desired quality adjusting end result. Chapter 3 This is useful, when scanning multiple sets of originals that exceed the maximum capacity of the ADF of 70 sheets (80 g/m2). (See the Example below:) (d) Press the Start key.
Chapter 4 Editing the Address Book Adding to the Address Book Chapter 4 The Email Addresses in the address book can be edited or deleted. Adding to the Address Book 1 Press the Function key. 2 Select “Scanner Settings”. z For instructions on how to edit or delete IP Addresses in the address book, refer to Network Configuration in the Operating Instructions (For Setting Up) in the provided booklet. Edit an Email Address The Email address can be edited. 5 3 54 4 Select “20-29”.
7 Edit the Email address, and then select “OK”. 12 Select “Close”. Chapter 4 z Enter an Email Address (up to 60 characters). z For instructions on how to enter characters, refer to Using the Keyboard in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) on the provided CD-ROM. 8 9 Enter a station name, and then select “OK”. Enter a key name, and then select “OK”. 10 Select “Yes” or “No”. Adding to the Address Book 13 Press the Reset key. 11 Select “Cancel”. The Email Address is updated.
Delete an Email Address The Email Addresses in the address book can be deleted. Chapter 4 Adding to the Address Book 56 1 On the Scanner Settings screen (see page 54), select “26 Delete Address: Email”. z For instructions on how to display the Scanner Settings screen, refer to steps 1 to 3 in the Edit an Email Address (see page 54). 2 3 Select an alphabet tab. Select the desired Email Address, and then select “OK”. 4 Select “Yes”. The Email Address is deleted. 5 6 7 Select “Cancel”.

Editing Image Box Name Chapter 4 The image box name can be changed. z For instructions on how to save Scanned image to an image box, refer to Scan to the Internal Hard Disk Drive (see page 14). z When there is data stored in the image box, the image box name cannot be changed.
