2 Installation and
Preparation
2.1 Drum cartridge
The supplied drum cartridge includes starter toner
(toner cartridge is not supplied).
• When using the unit for the first time, please use
the supplied drum cartridge.
CAUTION
• Read the instructions before you begin
installation.
• Do not drop the drum cartridge.
• Hold the drum cartridge with both hands
when removing or installing.
1. Open the rear cover by holding the rear cover
open lever ( ), then remove the protective
sheet (
) and the protective parts ( ).

• "PAPER JAMMED" is displayed before the
protective sheet is removed.
2. Open the front cover by holding the indentation
(
).

• If the unit is in sleep mode, press a key to put
the unit in standby mode for the next process
when replacing the toner cartridge and/or
drum cartridge.
3. Open the inner cover ( ).

4. Remove the protective parts.
5. Remove the drum cartridge ( ), which is pre-
installed in the unit.
