Getting started Connecting to the network The following services can be used when this unit is connected to broadband. ≥ Firmware can be updated (> 19) ≥ You can enjoy BD-Live/Network Service (> 22, 25) ≥ You can access other devices (Home Network) (> 23) ≥ This unit supports Direct Access and can make a wireless connection to wireless devices without router. You can use this function when enjoying Home Network feature, etc. Internet access is not available while connected via Direct Access.
Getting started Settings The following settings can be performed anytime in the Setup menu. (> 34, 36) Easy Settings After connecting your new player for the first time and pressing [Í], the basic settings screen will appear. Preparation Turn on the TV and select the appropriate video input. 1 Easy Network Setting After completing “Easy Settings”, you can perform “Easy Network Setting”. Playback HOME menu Playback Major functions of this unit can be operated from the HOME menu. Preparation Turn on the TV and select the appropriate video input. 1 Playback 1 2 Insert the media. Playback starts depending on the media. 2 Select the item to play and press [OK]. Repeat this step if necessary. Press [Í] to turn on the unit. ≥ DISCS CONTINUE TO ROTATE WHILE MENUS ARE DISPLAYED. Press [∫] when you have finished playback to protect the unit’s motor, your TV screen and so on.
Playback Skip Show the status messages While playing or paused, press [:] or [9]. Skip to the title, chapter or track. While playing, press [PLAYBACK INFO.]. You can check the detailed video content* playback status. ≥ When outputting HDR material tagged with metadata, such as Ultra HD Blu-ray content, press [PLAYBACK INFO.] again to display its luminance information (HDR10 metadata). Manual Skip Skip forward 1 minute Press [+60s]. Skip backward 10 seconds Press [-10s].

Playback Playing back contents on the Network Contents server Using the Digital Media Controller You can share photos, videos and music stored in the Network Contents server*1 [PC, smartphone, recorders, etc.] connected to your home network. ≥ About support format of Network Contents (> 45) Player You can use a smartphone or tablet as the Digital Media Controller (DMC) to playback contents from Network Contents server*1 on the Renderer (this unit).
Playback Enjoying Network Service Network Service allows you to access some specific websites supported by Panasonic, and enjoy Internet contents such as photos, videos, etc. from Network Service home screen. * MORE BACK * Images are for illustration purposes, contents may change without notice. Playback VIERA Link Playing music continuously even after turning off the TV What is VIERA Link? When the unit is connected to a Panasonic TV (VIERA) that supports VIERA Link and an amplifier/receiver supports VIERA Link. 1 While playing music Press [OPTION]. 2 Select “TV Power Off”. VIERA Link is a convenient function which will link the operations of this unit and a Panasonic TV (VIERA) or other device under “VIERA Link”. You can use this function by connecting the equipment with an HDMI cable*.
Playback Option menu A variety of playback operations and settings can be performed from this menu. Available options differ depending on the playing contents and the condition of the unit. 1 Press [OPTION]. e.g., Ultra HD Blu-ray ∫ Start Slideshow Start the slideshow. ∫ Status Show the status messages. ∫ Rotate RIGHT ∫ Rotate LEFT Rotate the still picture. Operation Menu Soundtrack ∫ Shuffle Select whether to play shuffle or not.
Playback ≥ DR Conversion Adjustment : When this unit is connected to a TV that does not support HDR (High Dynamic Range) input, HDR video is output converting to a SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) video signal. If you set a smaller value, their contrast will be reproduced more faithfully, but the entire screen will appear darker. To increase the brightness, set a larger value. Picture Settings These settings are also displayed by pressing [PICTURE SETTING].
Playback Sound Settings ∫ Sound Effects*1*2 Select the sound effect. (Upsampling up to 192 kHz/32 bit is possible.) This setting is also able to switch by pressing [SOUND EFFECT]. ≥ Night Surround : Enjoy a movie with powerful sound even when the volume is kept low at night. The audio is set in such a way that it can be heard easily. – Audio with a sampling frequency higher than 192/176.4 kHz will be down-sampled to 192/ 176.4 kHz for output.
Reference Setup menu ∫ 24p Output Content recorded at 24p*3, such as BD-Video films, is output at 24p when played back. ≥ When this unit is connected to TV compatible with 4K/24p and “Video Format” is set to “Automatic” or “4K”, images will be output in 4K/ 24p. ≥ When this unit is connected to a TV compatible with 1080/24p and “Video Format” is set to “Automatic”, “1080i” or “1080p”, images will be output in 1080/24p. ≥ If images output in 24p are distorted, change the setting to “Off”.
Reference ∫ HDR10+ Setting You can set enable/disable of the HDR10+ function. By changing this setting to “On”, you can use the HDR10+ function under the following conditions: – A device (TV, etc.) that supports HDR10+ is connected (> 10). – A disc that supports HDR10+ is played back. ≥ The “Optimum HDR Adjustment” setting is disabled while using the HDR10+ function. (> 28) h HDCP Output Setting If you connect to a TV that does not support HDCP2.
Reference h BD-Video Secondary Audio Select whether or not to mix the primary and secondary audio (including the button click sound). If “Off” is selected, the unit outputs the primary audio only. Picture ∫ Still Mode Select the type of picture shown when you pause playback. Automatic Automatically selects the type of picture shown. Field Select if jittering occurs when “Automatic” is selected. Frame Select if small text or fine patterns cannot be seen clearly when “Automatic” is selected.
Reference ∫ HDMI Output Settings of Music Playback Minimise the audio noise during music playback by automatically switching the video output to 1080i. Language ∫ Settings for High Clarity Sound Set a terminal that will stop processing audio signals or whether or not to turn on/off the unit’s display when “High Clarity Sound” (> 29) is set to “On (Video Off)” or “On (Video On)”. ≥ Set an option for video playback and audio playback.
Reference h Network Service Settings (> 25) Press [OK] to show the following settings: Network ∫ Easy Network Setting (> 18) ∫ Network Settings Perform network-related settings individually. Press [OK] to show the following settings: hLAN Connection Mode Select the LAN connection method. ≥ When not using wireless LAN (when turning it off), select “Wired”. hWireless Settings This allows the wireless router and connection settings to be set up.
Reference Networked Standby Even when “Quick Start” is set to “Off”, by using a remote device (smartphone or tablet), you can wake the unit from the off state and start certain Internet content services. ≥ To activate operation from the remote device, select “On”. But power consumption in standby mode will increase.
Reference System ∫ Easy Settings You can execute basic settings. ∫ TV Settings Press [OK] to show the following settings: hTV System Perform the setup so it matches the TV System of the connected TV. hScreen Saver Function This is to prevent image retention on the screen. ≥ When this is set to “On”: If a list of playback content is displayed and there is no operation for 5 minutes or more, the screen switches to HOME menu automatically. ≥ While playing and pausing, etc., this function is not available.
Reference Troubleshooting guide Before requesting service, please perform the following checks. If the problem remains unresolved, consult your dealer for instructions. General operation To return to the factory default. h Select “Yes” in “Default Settings” in the Setup menu. (> 36) To return all settings to the factory preset. h Reset the unit as follows: 1 While the unit is off Press and hold [OK], the yellow button and the blue button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
Reference You have forgotten your ratings password. Reference Video is not output. h Video is not output when the “High Clarity Sound” is set to “On (Video Off)”. (> 29) h Video from the HDMI AUDIO OUT terminal is not output when the “HDMI(AUDIO) Output Mode” is set to “Audio Only”. (> 30) Video is not output in 4K or high-definition. h Confirm that “Video Format” in the Setup menu is set properly. (> 30) h Confirm the HDMI cable, related connections and the compatibility of TV video input.
Reference Audio Cannot hear the desired audio. h Check the connections and the “Digital Audio Output” settings. (> 11, 32) h When the unit is connected to an amplifier/ receiver with the 7.1ch AUDIO OUT terminals, set “Analogue Multi Channel”. (> 33) h To output audio from a device connected with an HDMI cable, set “Audio Output” to “On” in the Setup menu.
