Automatic White Balance
The illustration shows the range over which Automatic White Balance functions.
1) The effective range of Automatic White Balance adjustment
on this unit
2) Blue sky
3) Cloudy sky (rain)
4) Sunlight
5) White fluorescent lamp
6) Halogen light bulb
7) Incandescent light bulb
8) Sunrise or sunset
9) Candlelight
If the Automatic White Balance is not functioning normally, adjust
the White Balance manually. (l 83)
Auto Focus
The unit focuses automatically.
Auto Focus does not work correctly in the following situations.
Record pictures in the Manual Focus Mode. (l 86)
j Recording distant and close-up objects at the same time
j Recording a subject behind dirty or dusty window
j Recording a subject that is surrounded by objects with glossy surfaces or by highly reflective
objects
With [CUSTOM AF], you can set the focusing behaviour of Auto Focus.
Switch to Auto Focus. (l 86)
Select the menu.
This function is not available in the following cases:
j Still Picture Recording Mode
j When using Manual Focus
This is [Normal] when using the following functions and the setting cannot be changed.
j HDR Movie Mode
j Slow & Quick Video Mode
j FULL HD Slow Motion Video Mode

Setting the focusing behaviour of Auto Focus
: [RECORD SETUP] # [CUSTOM AF] # desired setting
[Normal]: This is the standard setting.
[Sensitive]: It is easier for focus to follow, so it is easier for focus to switch between subjects
that are at different distances. This is recommended for focusing on subjects
that move quickly.
[Stable]: As it is easier to stabilise focus, the focus remains on the subject you are aiming
at even if an obstacle passes in front or if you lose the subject. This is
recommended when you don’t want to focus on obstacles or the background.
