For details about the [Print] dialogue box, click [?], then click the desired item. 3 Select the unit’s name as the active printer.

Fax 6 Fax Sending Faxes 6.1 Sending a fax manually Important: L You can only send faxes in monochrome. 6.1.1 Using the scanner glass By using the scanner glass, you can send a page from booklets or small size paper that cannot be sent with the automatic document feeder. {Fax} – – – “FINE”: For small-sized characters. “SUPER FINE”: For very small-sized characters. “PHOTO”: For photographs, shaded drawings, etc. 2.

Manual broadcast: Store items using one-touch dial or navigator directory (page 45). You can also use the dial keypad to store items manually.

6. Fax Receiving Faxes 6.5 Sending a computer document as a fax message from your computer You can access the fax function from a Windows application using Multi-Function Station. For example, to send a document created from WordPad, proceed as follows. 1 Open the document you want to send. 2 Select [Print...] from the [File] menu. L The [Print] dialogue box will appear. 3 Select the PCFAX unit’s name as the active printer. 4 Click [Print] or [OK]. L The [Send a Fax] dialogue box will appear.
6. Fax How to receive phone calls and faxes You have to answer all calls manually. To receive a fax document, press {Black}. 6.7 Receiving a fax automatically – Auto answer ON 6.6.3 Use as a telephone and/or fax (TEL/FAX mode) Important: L You can only receive faxes in monochrome. Your situation You want to answer phone calls yourself and receive faxes automatically without rings. 6.7.1 Activating FAX ONLY mode Setup Set the unit to TEL/FAX mode (page 51) by pressing {Fax Auto Answer} repeatedly.

L The {Fax Auto Answer} light turns OFF. {Stop} How phone calls and faxes are received 1. “INCOMING CALL” will be displayed but the unit will not ring.

Fax L To answer using the handset of the unit (if connected) or another telephone (3) connected to the same telephone line as this unit (4), lift the handset and talk to the other party. 6.9 Using the unit with an answering machine 6.9.1 Setting up the unit and an answering machine 1 Connect the answering machine (1). To use this unit’s Caller ID features, you must subscribe to a Caller ID service. Important: L This unit is designed in accordance with the ETS (European Telecommunication Standard) and only supports the basic CLIP (Calling Line Identification Presentation) features. L This unit will only display the caller’s telephone number and name.

L The software is not running on the computer. Restart the software and try again. “PLEASE WAIT” L The unit is warming up. Wait for a while. “POLLING ERROR” L The other party’s fax machine does not offer the polling function. Check with the other party. “REDIAL TIME OUT” L The other party’s fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper.
10. Help Troubleshooting 10.3 When a function does not work 10.3.1 General Problem Cause & Solution The unit does not work. L Check the connections (page 18, 26). The recording paper exit becomes full quickly or the recording paper does not stack properly at the recording paper exit. L High humidity may cause the recording paper to curl. Try turning the paper over and re-inserting it. If the curl on the paper is heavy, please remove it from the recording paper exit.

Help Problem Cause & Solution I cannot find the unit in the [Target Device] or [Device Select] dialogue box when operating the following functions. – Scanning – Remote Control – PC FAX – Device Monitor L The printer driver has not been installed. If you do not remember it, assign a new password using feature #155 (page 58).

Change the contrast (page 37) and make a lighter copy of the document, using “TEXT” resolution (page 37), and try again. I cannot receive documents. L The telephone line cord is connected to the [EXT] socket on the unit. Connect to the [LINE] socket (page 18).

L If you use a splitter/coupler to connect the unit, remove the splitter/coupler and connect the unit to the wall socket directly. If the unit operates properly, check the splitter/coupler. L Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect a known working telephone.

If the LED is glowing or blinking, the network access is working correctly. If the LED is not glowing or blinking, confirm the LAN cable (category 5 straight cable) is connected to the LAN port of the main board correctly.
