SMS (Short Message Service)
Static is heard, sound cuts in and out.
Interference from other electrical units.
L Place the handset and the base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
L Move closer to the base unit.
L Your unit is connected to a telephone line with DSL
service (page 34).
Noise is heard during a call. L You are using the handset or base unit in an area with high
electrical interference. Place the handset and base unit
away from interference sources, such as antennas and
mobile phones.
The handset/base unit stops working
while being used.
L Disconnect the base unit AC adaptor and remove the
handset batteries. Connect the base unit AC adaptor,
install the batteries and try again.
The handset beeps intermittently
and/or / flashes.
L Fully charge the batteries (page 10).
I fully charged the batteries, but / still
flashes.
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 10).
L It is time to replace the batteries (page 10).
I fully charged the batteries, but the
operating time seems to be short.
L Wipe the battery ends (S, T) and the unit contacts with a
dry cloth.
Caller information is not displayed. L You need to subscribe to Caller ID service. Consult your
service provider/telephone company for details.
L Your unit is connected to a telephone line with DSL
service (page 34).
I cannot register a handset to a base
unit.
L The maximum number of handsets (5) are already
registered to the base unit. Cancel unused handset
registrations from the base unit (page 27).
L You entered the wrong PIN. If you forget your PIN, consult
your nearest Panasonic service centre.
L Place the handset and the base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
I cannot make intercom or transfer
calls.
L Select the same base unit for each handset (page 27).
Problem Cause & solution
I cannot send or receive SMS
messages.
L SMS is set to Off. Set it to On (page 20).
L You have not subscribed to the appropriate service.
Consult your service provider/telephone company.
L The SMS message centre number(s) are not stored or are
incorrect. Store the correct numbers (page 20).
L Message transmission was interrupted. Wait until the
message has been sent before using other telephone
functions.
L Your unit is connected to a telephone line with DSL
service (page 34).
The handset does not ring when I
receive SMS messages.
L SMS alert is off. Set SMS alert On (page 22).
