Operating Instructions The following Operating Instruction manuals are included with this machine. Please refer to the appropriate manual and keep all manuals for future reference. Chapter 1 Printing from PC Print Operations Chapter 1 You can print images or data of application software from PC on which the printer driver is installed. Print Print Operations zTo print from PC, the setup of this machine and PC is necessary. For setting up the machine as a network printer, refer to Setting up the Network Configuration in the Operating Instructions (For Administrator Setup) of provided CD-ROM.
5 Click “Print”. Chapter 1 Print Operations z When the desired size of paper is not set in the Paper Tray, use the Sheet Bypass.
Chapter 1 Printing from SD Memory Card/USB Flash Memory/Internal Hard Disk Drive/Mailbox You can print data saved in the SD Memory Card, USB Flash Memory, Internal Hard Disk Drive, or Mailbox using the Control Panel of the machine. There are two ways for selecting data to print. Photo Print Print Operations Photo images (JPEG files) are displayed as thumbnails in the Thumbnail/Individual and Thumbnail/ Index Print tabs, and can be printed individually or as thumbnail indexes.
File Print Files other than photo images (JPEG/TIFF/PDF files) are displayed in the File List tab. USB Flash Memory: For printing files copied to the USB Flash Memory from PC (see page 14). PC Internal Hard Disk Drive/Mailbox: For printing files saved in the machine from PC on the network (see pages 16 and 17). Print Operations USB Flash Memory Chapter 1 z Only one file can be selected at a time in the File List tab. For more details, refer to step 5 of Printing from USB Flash Memory (see page 14).
Basic Operation Procedure Chapter 1 This section describes the workflow of printing data using the Control Panel of the machine. For the detailed description of procedures for each print function, refer to the relevant suggested section. 1 Print Operations 2 Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select the desired print function. • SD Print: Select when printing data in the SD Memory Card, USB Flash Memory or Internal Hard Disk Drive (see pages 11 to 16).
Printing from SD Memory Card z Be sure to use only a genuine SD Memory Card* (up to 32GB). z Image data saved on the SD Memory Card cannot be printed if the Function Parameter “70 SD/USB Memory Function” (General Settings > Key Operator Mode) is set to “No”. For more details on this setting, refer to General Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. * SD Memory Card and SDHC Memory Card are referred to as SD Memory Card in this manual.
4 Select “Thumbnail/Individual” or “Thumbnail/Index Print”. Chapter 1 Ex: JPEG files except from digital camera are displayed as follows. Ex: When photo images are not included, a file list is displayed. Print Operations z To print thumbnail indexes (Index Print), select the desired data from the Thumbnail/ Index Print tab. z To print images individually (Individual Print), select the desired data from the Thumbnail/Individual tab. 5 Select the desired data.

Printing from USB Flash Memory Chapter 1 You can print images directly from the USB Flash Memory. zBe sure to use only a USB Flash Memory that supports Mass Storage Class (FAT16 or FAT32 format). zUSB Flash Memory with the security function cannot be used. zWe cannot guarantee compatibility with all USB Flash Memories. For details, contact the authorized Panasonic dealer.
6 Select the required settings if necessary. 9 Close the Slot Cover. Chapter 1 Confirm Settings (see page 45) More Settings (see pages 26 to 41) Preset Jobs (see page 42) Paper/Output Tray: Selects the Paper Tray and Output Tray. • 2-Sided: Prints in the 2-Sided mode. 7 Select “Start”. 8 Remove the USB Flash Memory. Print Operations • • • • z When canceling the operation, press the Reset key on the Control Panel. z Do not remove the USB Flash Memory while the Access Indicator is flashing.
Printing from the Internal Hard Disk Drive Chapter 1 You can print images saved in the internal Hard Disk Drive. Print Operations zThe Hard Disk Drive is enabled with 12 image boxes. 1 2 Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. 4 Select the desired data. Select “SD Print”. z Only one file can be selected at a time from the Image Box. 3 Select “File List”, and then select an Image Box in the Hard Drive.
Mailbox Printing You can print data saved in the machine’s Mailbox using the Control Panel. User ID (and password for Secure Mailbox) is required to print documents saved in Mailbox. Mailbox print is suitable for printing confidential documents. z For instructions on how to save printing data to Mailbox, refer to Print Operation (for Printer) in the Document Management System (Printer Driver) of provided CD-ROM. 1 2 Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode.
4 Select the desired mailbox. Enter the desired number of copies, and then select “OK”. Chapter 1 Print Operations Check then Print 5 Prints one proof set before printing multiple sets. The document data will be deleted after printing. Mailbox Prints data in the mailbox that is specified by User ID. The document data will remain in the mailbox until it is deleted. Secure Mailbox Prints data in the mailbox that is specified by User ID.
When Secure Mailbox is selected 6 After selecting the data in Secure Mailbox, enter the password (8 to 16 digits), and then select “OK”. z When canceling the operation, press the Reset key on the Control Panel. Print Operations z Only one file can be selected at a time. Chapter 1 When “Mailbox” or “Secure Mailbox” has been selected in step 4, select whether to delete the data after printing.
Deleting Mailbox Data Chapter 1 1 2 Print Operations 3 Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select “Mailbox”. Enter the mailbox User ID (up to 8 digits), and then select “OK”. 5 Select the desired data, and then select “Delete”. When Check then Print is selected z Only one file can be selected at a time. When Mailbox is selected z All files can be selected at a time with the “Select All” button.
6 Select “Yes” or “No”. Print Operations z When saving print data in the Secure Mailbox of the machine, set the password in more than 8 digits (the machine does not accept the data with the password in less than 8 digits). For more details, refer to the Document Management System (Printer Driver) of provided CD-ROM. Chapter 1 After selecting the data in Secure Mailbox, enter the password (8 to 16 digits), and then select “OK”.
Job Control (Output Queue) Chapter 1 The following functions are available in the Job Control. Print Operations You can turn the printer on-line and off-line from the Control Panel. 22 • On Line button: Turns the printer on-line. • Off Line button: Turns the printer off-line. • Cancel Print button: Stops the current print job and deletes the job from the output queue. • Output Queue button: Displays the current print jobs.
Canceling the Current Print Job You can stop the current print job and delete the data from the output queue from the Control Panel. Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. Select “Job Control”. 3 Select “Cancel Print”. 4 Select “Yes” or “No”.
Confirming the Print Jobs in the Output Queue Chapter 1 You can confirm jobs currently being printed or in the output queue, and also manage the jobs from the Control Panel. 1 Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. Print Operations 2 Select “Job Control”. 3 Select “Output Queue”. 4 Select “Print”. 5 6 Enter the password (4 digits), and then select “OK”. Select the desired print job, and manage the job. Delete Deletes the selected data from the Output Queue.

Chapter 2 Selecting the Color Mode SD Print Settings Chapter 2 When printing directly from the SD Memory Card or USB Flash Memory, you can select the color mode. Print in color Color Original Print in monochrome SD Print Settings zThe default Color mode settings can be changed with the Function Parameter “30 SD Print Settings (00 Color Mode)” (Printer Settings > General User Mode). Refer to Printer Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
Quality Adjusting The following five quality adjustments are available. • Contrast • Brightness • Saturation • Tint • Color Balance Chapter 2 When printing directly from the SD Memory Card or USB Flash Memory, you can adjust the image quality. z You can adjust the image quality of JPEG files only. z Under the following situations, the Quality settings return to the standard settings. - If the Reset key is pressed. - If Auto Reset Time interval has lapsed (default = 1 min). - If the power is turned OFF.
4 Select “Close”. Chapter 2 SD Print Settings 28 z For the following procedure, refer to steps 7 to 9 of Printing from SD Memory Card (see page 13) or steps 7 to 9 of Printing from USB Flash Memory (see page 15).
Contrast Images can be printed with the adjusted contrast. Chapter 2 Higher 1 Select “Contrast”. 2 Adjust the contrast with “Lower” or “Higher”, and then select “OK”. SD Print Settings Lower z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 and 2 of Quality Adjusting (see page 27). Lower Each time it is selected, the contrast level decreases by 1 grade lower. (The distinction between brightness and darkness is reduced.) Higher Each time it is selected, the contrast level increases by 1 grade higher.
Brightness Images can be printed with the adjusted brightness. Chapter 2 Higher SD Print Settings Lower 1 Select “Brightness”. 2 Adjust the brightness with “Lower” or “Higher”, and then select “OK”. z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 and 2 of Quality Adjusting (see page 27). Lower Each time it is selected, the brightness level decreases by 1 grade lower. Higher Each time it is selected, the brightness level increases by 1 grade higher. z The screen will return to step 1.
Saturation Images can be printed with the adjusted saturation. Select “Saturation”. 2 Adjust the saturation with “Lower” or “Higher”, and then select “OK”. z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 and 2 of Quality Adjusting (see page 27). Lower Each time it is selected, the saturation level decreases by 1 grade lower, reducing the color saturation. Higher Each time it is selected, the saturation level increases by 1 grade higher, increasing the color saturation.
Tint Images can be printed with reddish or bluish color accentuated. Chapter 2 Reddish color accentuated SD Print Settings Bluish color accentuated 1 Select “Tint”. 2 Adjust the color tone with “More Red” or “More Blue”, and then select “OK”. z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 and 2 of Quality Adjusting (see page 27). More Red Each time it is selected, the level of reddish color increases by 1 grade. (The bluish color level decreases by 1 grade.
Color Balance z The density of each color can be fine tuned for each of the three density levels. z This function is useful for the fine adjustment of color photos. Unlike image editing software, this function cannot greatly change the color tone since the adjustable range at each density level is very narrow. 1 Select “Color Balance”. 3 z To display this screen, refer to steps 1 and 2 of Quality Adjusting (see page 27).
Sort Mode Chapter 2 Printed copies can be sorted by set. Sort Rotate-Sort Rotate-Group 1 1 1 3 2 1 4 1 SD Print Settings The following Finishing modes are available instead of “Rotate-Sort” and “Rotate-Group” when the optional Finisher is installed. Shift-Sort Shift-Group zOnly 8.5" x 11" (Letter/Letter-R) size is applicable for “Rotate-Sort” and “Rotate-Group”.

Selecting the Frame Size for Individual Print Chapter 2 When you print images individually, set the frame size in which the image will be printed without changing the horizontal to vertical ratio. Frame Size Image Size X Y Frame Y X SD Print Settings X zThis function is only available when an image is selected in the Thumbnail/Individual tab. zThe Frame Size is different from the printed image size. 1 Select “More Settings”.
4 Enter the frame size. 6 Select the desired Paper Tray, and then select “OK”. Chapter 2 Select to set the horizontal frame size. Select to set the vertical frame size. z The paper size should be larger than the frame size. 5 Select the desired preset image size. 7 Select “Close”. zFor the following procedure, refer to steps 7 to 9 of Printing from SD Memory Card (see page 13). SD Print Settings Select to set the horizontal and vertical frame size in the same ratio.
Selecting the Layout for Index Print Chapter 2 When you print thumbnail indexes, set the print layout. SD Print Settings zThis function is only available when an image is selected in the Thumbnail/Index Print tab. zThe default setting of index layout can be changed with the Function Parameter “30 SD Print Settings (14 Index Style)” (Printer Settings > General User Mode). Refer to Printer Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. 1 Select “More Settings”.
Mirror Image 1 Select “More Settings”. SD Print Settings z This function is not available when an image is selected in the File List tab. Chapter 2 When you print images individually or thumbnail indexes, you can print laterally reversed image of an original. z To display “More Settings”, refer to steps 1 to 6 of Printing from SD Memory Card (see page 11). 2 Select “Mirror”, and then select “Close”. Ex: When “More Settings” is selected in “Thumbnail/Index Print” tab.
2-Sided Mode Chapter 2 You can print images onto both sides of a sheet. zWhen an image is selected in the File List tab, select the “2-Sided” button on the SD Print screen instead of the procedures described below. zThe standard setting of 2-Sided mode can be changed with the Function Parameter “05 2-Sided Print” (Printer Settings > General User Mode). Refer to Printer Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
Image Repeat Chapter 2 When you print an image individually, multiple images of an original can be printed onto a sheet. z This function is only available when an image is selected in the Thumbnail/Individual tab. Select “More Settings”. z To display this screen, select the Thumbnail/ Individual tab in step 4 of Printing from SD Memory Card (see page 12). 2 Select “1 to N”. 3 4 Select the desired number for image repeat, and then select “OK”. SD Print Settings 1 Select “Close”.
Preset Jobs Chapter 2 Preset Job function simplifies setting procedures and improves operating efficiency. Storing a Job in Memory You can register the frequently used print settings to job buttons. zUp to 10 preset jobs can be registered. zOnce registered, the print job settings are kept in the job memory until they are overwritten by new settings. SD Print Settings zRefer to Recalling a Preset Job Stored in Memory (see page 44).
8 Enter a job name, and then select “OK”. Chapter 2 z For instructions on how to enter characters, refer to Using the Keyboard in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. z After completing the editing of the job name, press the Reset key to return to the initial screen of the currently active mode. SD Print Settings z Up to 20 characters can be entered.
Recalling a Preset Job Stored in Memory You can recall the registered print settings by selecting preset job buttons. Chapter 2 zRefer to Storing a Job in Memory (see page 42). 1 2 Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. 6 Select the desired preset job. Select “SD Print”. SD Print Settings z Job buttons without names, indicate that jobs have not been registered. z If the Confirmation screen is displayed, select “Close”.

Confirm the messages displayed on the Status column, and then select “Close”. Error Messages Possible Causes/Solutions Print Parameter Error(001) The Duplex Unit does not function properly.
