Sound field Note ≥Dolby Pro Logic and Super Surround cannot be used if headphones are connected. ≥You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these sound field systems are used with some sources. If this occurs, turn the sound field system off. Sound field system Features Software ≥Dolby Digital and DTS are digital encoding systems used on DVD to carry surround sound. Both were originally developed for use in cinemas. ≥This unit automatically recognizes and decodes these systems.

Changing settings Entering a password (Ratings) L [DVD-V] a The password screen is shown when you select levels 0 to 7. 1. Input a 4-digit password with the numbered buttons and press [ENTER]. ≥If you enter a wrong number, press [CANCEL] to erase it before you press [ENTER]. ≥The lock symbol appears closed to show the rating is locked. ≥Do not forget your password. 2. Picture Picture distorted. ≥Some distortion is normal during SEARCH. No picture. ≥Ensure that the television is connected properly. 7 ≥Make sure the television is on. ≥Ensure the television’s video input setting (e.g., VIDEO 1) is correct. The picture shown on the television is not normal. (The sides of the picture are cut off or black bands appear at the top and bottom of the screen.) ≥Go to the Video menu in the ACTION screen, and change “TV Aspect” to suit your television.
Glossary Bitstream I/P/B This is the digital form of multiple channel audio data (e.g., 5.1 channel) before it is decoded into its various channels. MPEG 2, the video compression standard adopted for use with DVD-Video, codes frames using these 3 picture types. I: Intra coded picture (I-picture) This is the standard picture and is a complete picture in itself. This means it has the best picture quality and is the best to use when adjusting the picture.
