Do not connect the unit through a video cassette recorder, because the picture may not be played correctly due to the copy guard. Use the RCAJ adaptor (included) if your television has a 21-pin SCART terminal. You do not have to connect anything to the AUDIO terminals.

Sound field Dolby Pro Logic Dolby Pro Logic is an active process that enhances sound localization through the use of a high separation decoding method providing improved spatiality and a wider listening area. The sense of directionality is enhanced by the Left, Center, Right and Surround channels. Dolby Pro Logic decoding is best utilized with sources encoded in Dolby Surround.
Sound quality Sound Field Control Press [SFC] to select a setting. Each time you press the button: HEAVY: Adds impact to rock. CLEAR: Clarifies higher sounds. SFC SOFT: For background music. HALL: Expands sound to make you feel like you were in a hall. MANUAL: ➡ below FLAT: Canceled (no effect is added) (factory preset). In MANUAL You can select LOW, MID, or HIGH, and then adjust them in a range between j3 and i3. 1 Press and hold [SFC] until the setting appears. 2 Press [2, 1] to select LOW, MID, or HIGH.
Convenient functions Timer functions VOLUME DOWN Í/I UP SELECT WAKE Ë WAKE The SLEEP timer can turn the unit off after a set time and the WAKE timer can turn it on. You can use only one timer at a time. Optional antenna connections Use outdoor antennas if radio reception is poor. [Note] Disconnect the antenna when the unit is not in use. Do not use the outdoor antenna during an electrical storm. Glossary Safety precautions Decoder A decoder restores the coded audio signals on DVDs to normal. This is called decoding. Dolby Digital This is a method of coding digital signals developed by Dolby Laboratories. Apart from stereo (2-channel) audio, these signals can also be multi-channel audio. A large amount of audio information can be recorded on one disc using this method. DTS (Digital Theater Systems) This surround system is used in many movie theaters around the world.
Troubleshooting guide Before requesting service, make the below checks. If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the remedies indicated in the chart do not solve the problem, consult your dealer for instructions. Power Page No power. ≥Insert the AC mains lead securely into the household mains socket. 9 The unit is automatically switched to the standby mode. ≥The unit was switched to standby by the sleep timer. 28 No response when buttons pressed.
Sound No sound. Distorted sound. Humming heard during play. No sound from the subwoofer. Page ≥Check the connections. ≥Turn the volume up. ≥Turn muting off. ≥Switch off the unit, determine and correct the cause, then switch the unit on. Causes include: –Shorting (bare wires touching) of positive and negative speaker wires. –Using speakers with an impedance lower than that rated for this unit. –Straining of the speakers through excessive volume or power.
