LC Termination with 3.0mm Cable
Stripping 3.0mm Jacketed Cable
1. Place the boot on the cable small end first; then place the
crimp sleeve on the cable small end first. Slide both back
out of the way.
2. Prepare the cable in the same way as 1.6/2.0mm cable
EXCEPT use the 1.3MM (or #16AWG) opening in the jacket
stripper to remove the jacket.
Attaching Ferrule to 3.0mm Jacketed Cable
3. Attach the fiber to the ferrule in the same way as 1.6/2.0mm
cable procedure.
Crimping 3.0mm Jacketed Cable
4. Prepare the connector assembly for crimping in the same
way as the 1.6/2.0mm.
5. Slide the crimp sleeve over the backbone, trapping the
aramid yarn between the crimp sleeve and the grooved
area of the backbone. Ensure that it stays in this location
during the crimping process.
6. Position the crimp sleeve in the crimp die pocket that is
closest to the handles (i.e. the pocket without the ribs). The
large end of the crimp sleeve will be flush with the front
edge of the crimp die pocket.
7. To crimp the sleeve, squeeze the tool until the handle can
be re-opened to crimp the sleeve. Do not re-crimp. The
Kevlar and the jacket crimp are performed in one crimp
operation.
Cleaving and Polishing
8. Follow the standard instructions for Cleaving and Polishing
the connector.
Assembling the Connector and Boot
9. Slide the boot up the cable until it stops on the back of the
connector. There may be some resistance as the boot is
pressed over the crimp sleeve. Rotate the boot such that
the thin width of the rectangular end of the boot is in line
with the sides of the connector body and latch.
Refer to standard installation instructions PN340*.
