Safety Tags Identify Temporary Hazards
Safety Tags...
Call out attention to hazards
Prevent the potential for accidental injury or property damage
Identify and inform that a hazardous condition exists
Attach and hang the tags as close as possible to the hazard situation where the tag can be readily seen. Tags are to
remain in-place until the hazard is eliminated or the hazardous operation is complete.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA 29 CFR §1910.145) and American National Standards
Institute (ANSI Z535) provide specifications, designs, applications, and uses of accident prevention tags. Tags can be
printed in a variety of colors and messages to meet your needs. They are typically designed with an attention-getting
signal word for a degree of hazard along with a specific message and areas to write in particular information.
Safety tags are an inexpensive, fast solution for temporary marking and identification of hazards.
Note: A tag shall not be used in place of a permanent sign or label for hazards in normal use,
operation or maintenance.
