ALTO 80Ga TC Introduction This gas oven has hen designed and manufactured to all the necessary British Standards. 1t also carries the C.E. mark. The oven complies with European Council Directive 0/396/EEC. Otis important that you understand how to use and care for the oven properly before you use it for the first time. We have written this booklet with your safety in mind. Read the booklet thoroughly before you use the oven. Keep the booklet in a safe place so that anyone who uses the oven can reed it.

ALTO 60GaTC General information To get the best results from your new oven please read these instructions carefully. You should pay particular attention to cooking times and gas mark settings as these may differ from your previous oven, You may find it necessary to adjust these until you are more familiar with the oven. Oven housing units vary widely in construction and finish.
ALTO 80GaTC Ignition The grill and oven boomers light automatically when you tum on the control, If, for any reason either of the burners go out, the spark ignition will automatically refit it Please note: You can only use the girl with the door fully or partially open. You cannot use the grill when the door is closed. You cannot use the oven and grill together. You cannot use the oven or grill in the event of a power allure. Oven lights Your oven has two oven lights.
ALTO 60GaTC Lighting the oven/grill Grill To light: 1 Open the door. Push in the control knob and tum it to the highest setting. This is shown by a large flame symbol. Oven To light: 1 Open the oven road. 2 Push in the control knob and tum it to gas mark 9. When the boomer has lit there will only be small flames at first. Gen Wy 4 Oven 3 Now tum the control knob to the gas mark you want. @ 4 Wait until the boomer is showing large flames, & Close the oven door.
ALTO 60GaTC To turn off any burner 1 Push in the control knob and tum it to the off position. This Is shown by a large dot.
ALTO 60GaTC The grill When you first tum the grill on, you will be able to smell residues from the grill surface being burnt off. it may be necessary to open a window for ventilation. The smell will disappear after using the grill a few times. Heat control The grill gives variable heat seedlings. The control knob tums to the left from 'OFF' to 'HIGH' and then to ‘LOW'. The high setting should be used for fast cooking such as toast.
ALTO 60GaTC Cooking positions N Most food should be cooked on the grid in the grill pan. You can tum the grid over to suit different thicknesses of food. You can place some dishes straight on the grill shelf, This is useful when you are browning the top of food such as cauliflower SR cheese. o S5 Preheating You don't usually dean to preheat the grill. You may wish to preheat it for a couple of minutes when you are cooking steak or browning food.
ALTO 80GaTC The grill pan and handle The grill pan has a removable hardliner. This should be removed during grilling. To attach the handle, press the button on the handle with your thumb. Lift the handle upwards slightly and put it in to the widest part of the grill pan bracket. Move the handier to the left and lower into position. You can now release the button. Make sure the handle is firmly located.
ALT 60GaTC To check the progress of the food when using the grill you should withdraw the grill pan on the shelf to attend to food. After removing the grill pan you can rest it on a heat resistant work surface if you need to. Plate warming When using tha grill, you can use the shelf below the grill pan to warm plates. Do not put plates on the shelf when the grill burr is muted on and the grill pan is nof in place. The heat from the boomer will damage the plates.
ALTO 60GaTC The oven Before you use the oven you should wipe the base with a damp cloth. This will remove any dust. When you first turn the oven on you will be able to smell residues from the oven surfaces being burnt off. it may be necessary to open a window for ventilation. The smell will disappear after using the oven a few times. Heat zones There are zones of heat within the oven. The temperature in the middies is the gas mark you have chosen.
ALTO 60GaTC Oven shelves The two oven shelves can be slotted into place in any of 5 positions. The fop shelf position should be reserved for grilling only. For safety the shelves will only pull out so far. If you want to remove a shelf completely, pull it forward as far as it will go, raise the front edge and Sift it out.
ALTO 60GaTC Baking trays and dishes Mfl] Leave a gap of 13mm between all (L0 dishes and the sides of the oven so the @] heat can circulate properly. [y Do not push dishes foo far back as food @ will numb if it overhangs the boomer flames. @ 1% U For the best results we recommend that you use the baking tray supplied with the oven. If you use a tray or tin which is forger than this; you may need to turn it around during cooking. Place single dishes on the center of the shelf.
ALTO 60GaTC The chart below is intended fo help you use your oven. If you are using a gas oven for the first time or if a recipe says ‘cook at 350°F" or 'use & moderately hot oven' you can use the chart to find out what gas mark to use. The temperatures are only a guide they are not actual temperatures in the oven. This chart cannot be used to check actual oven temperatures.
ALTO 60GaTC Slow cooking The slow cook setting gives a very low heat in the oven. It is particularly useful when you are cooking soups, stews and casseroles because the long slow cooking will make cheaper, tougher cuts of meat more tender. Some foods such as pastry and biscuits are not suitable for sow cooking because the temperature Is too low. Caver all food during cooking 1o prevent it from drying old. You can uncover food for the last half hour if i is normally served golden brown.
ALTO 60GaTC Soups, casseroles and stews ® Do not cook casseroles over 3kg (61b). ® Do not cook two (1.8kg) (2Ib) casseroles on slow cook setting at the same time. ® Cook in the middle of the oven or above. ® Cover food with a tight fitting fid or tin foil. & Cook for up fo 9 hours, Vegetables ® Cut into small pieces. @ Dried beans must be per-soaked then boiled in an open pan for 15 minutes before adding to any dish. ® Place vegetables under meat in casseroles.
ALTO 80GaTC Milk and milk products, for example cream Add these towards the end of coking to prevent them from curdling. Reheating Cool left over food quickly and then put it in the fridge. Do not reheat food using the slow cook sating. Reheat food in the usual way or int a microwave, Only reheat food once.
ALTO 60GaTC The electronic timer Please note that this is a 24 hour clock, for example 2pm is shown as 1400. Cook pot symbol Bell symbol In the following pages we explain how o o o2 set the controls. Read through them until you're familiar with the procedure. We have supplied a plastic card as a quick reference when setting the-timer; Selector Setting nab 1f the oven is switched off on the wall or there is a loss of power, the clock will stop and you will not be able to use the oven.
ALTO 60GaTC To change the audible signal When the setting knob is muted anti-clockwise, a choice of three audible signals are available. Te select the chalice of signal required, rotate knob anti-clockwise and release. Repeat procedure to choose desired signal. Automatic control When you use the automatic controls for the first time it's probably best 10 choose a time when you are at home.

ALTO 60GaTC Hints and tips for automatic cooking 1 Check the instructions for setting the automatic controls until you are familiar with the timer operation. 2 If the oven has been used, allow it to cool completely before using for automatic conking. 3 You should leave food in the oven for as short a time as possible before automatic cooking starts, 4 Do not leave food to stand in the oven when it has finished cooking. You should remove it and if it is not going to be eaten at once, cool it quickly.
ALTO 60GaTC Care and cleaning Do not use any polishes, caustic cleaners, abrasives, washing soda or soap powder except those recommended in this booklet. Please note: If we recommend you use hot soapy water we mean hot ® water with washing up liquid in i and not any other cleaning product. f you own a dishwasher please read the operating instructions for the machine before you wash any part of | your oven, J Clean your oven regularly using a cloth that has been wrung out in hot soapy water.
ALTO 60GaTC The oven Clean the base of the oven, the oven shelves, the meat tin, cake tray, and the oven door while they are still slightly warm. This way you can easily remove any splashes and spills. You may use mild abrasives. The heat in the oven will change the color of the metal plate on the sheaf. You must not remove the solid plate from the shelf. You can soak the shelf for a few minutes in hot soapy water to make cleaning easier.
ALTO 60GaTC Oven cleaning cycle ‘You need 1o Hollow the cycle to keep the Inside of the oven in good condition. The type of cooking you do will affect how often you need to Hollow the cycle. 1f you do & lot of roasting and very little baking you should follow the cleaning cycle once a week. If you do very little roasting you will only need to follow the cleaning cycle every 2-3 weeks. To carry out a cleaning cycle: 1 Remove the oven shelves. 2 Set the oven to mark 5 for at least 30 minutes, 30 mind.
ALTO 60GaTC Cleaning between the outer and inner door glass You can remove the glass from the oven door if you need to. To remove the outer glass 1 Open the oven door so you can get at the two cross head screws on the top of he oven door. 2 Loosen these screws using a overdrive screwdriver, 3 You should hold the door glass securely in place with one hand, whilst removing the sowers completely, with the other hand. If you do not do this, the door glass could fall forward.
ALT 60GaTC What is wrong and why? We strongly recommend that you carry out the following checks on your oven before calling a Service Engineer. Problem The oven or grill will not light, Check ® Check that the oven is switched on at the wall. ® Check that the timer is set to ‘manual' {See page 26). ® Check that the power supply has not been interrupted before the cocking fan has had time to cool the oven down.
ALTO 60GaTC Problem Having difficulty cleaning any part of the oven. Check ® Check that you are following the instructions for care and cleaning {See page 28). Problem The oven lights do not work. Check ® Check that the oven is not sef for automatic cooking. The lights will illuminate when cooking begins. @ |f you have had your oven for some time, you may need to replace an oven light bulb. (See page 34). Problem The timer does not work. Check ® Hack that the timer instructions are being closely followed.
ALTO 60GaTC Replacing an oven light bulb You need a 25 Watt small Edison screw with a temperature faring of T300. Make sure the oven is cool before you replace a bulb. Unplug the cooker. Open the oven door and remove the oven shelves, Pull the glass bulb cover towards you and then pull it off, Unscrew the bulb by turning i fo the left. Fiat new bulb and then replace the glass bulb cover. Replace the oven shelves. Plug the cooker back into the electricity supply. Re-set the time of day.

FITTING THE APPLIANCE AND CABINET it is recommended that & ¥8* 1100mm long angle bayonet exhibition hose and a %" straight socket be used for the installation. However any approved hose of the comet tenth can be used. IMPORTANT: Flexible tubing used must comply with BS 669 current editions. L.P.G. flexible connections must be of a type suitable for LP.G. and capable of operation up to Lumbar and carry a red stripe, band or label.
ALTO 60GaTC INSTALLATION sous pipe installation FITTING THE APPLIANCE AND CABINET. 1 Make suitable arrangements for gas and electrical supplies into the installation site. Preferably a junction box or a 3 pin earthed socket should be situated at the back of the cabinet below the oven. 2 Fit cabinet as Fig, 1, making sirs that iris feel. 3 When unpacking the oven keep it on it's polystyrene base until it is put into the cabinet to avoid damage. 4 Remove the oven door. (Sea section B8 on page 44).
ALTO 60GaTC 2. CONNECTION TO ELECTRICITY SUPPLY WARNING: This appliance must be earthed, do not harts this appliance 1o the yas supply piping. This appliance must be connected to a 220V-240V a.c. 50Hz supply which incorporates a 3 ampere fuse. If any other type of plug is used It should incorporate a § ampere fuse in either the pig or adapter or at the distribution board, The appliance is supplied with 2 meters (6.5 #) of § ampere 3 core cable, fitted with a mounded pig.
3. ALTO 60GaTC PRESSURE TESTING The pressures test paint is located on the right hand side of the gas rail. Access 1o the test point is through a cut out in the top right hand side of the control pearl sse Fig. Remove the hex head plug from the test point. Connect ihe pressure gauge to the test point, Hack the supply pressure by turning the oven thermostat to Mark 9. Then turn on the electricity supply. Allow the oven burner ta light and gas flow open up fo full rate.
> wmo@ ALTO 60GaTC REMOVAL OF OVEN DOOR Pen door fully. Engage both hinge locking pins (See Fig. 9}. To remove the door, clear the hinges by raising the door slightly whilst pulling forwards you. AUTOMATIC OPERATION Having set the clock up as described above, tum the left hand knob to the ‘cook’ position and set the right hand knob to show a cooking time of two minutes Turk the left hand knob o the 'stop’ position; the time shown on the display is now the time of day with two minutes added on. Rotate the right hand nab to add two minutes t this dime to give a twa minute delay.
