If it becomes necessary to return a Parr 1281
Calorimeter to the factory, the calorimeter
must be carefully packed to prevent shipping
damage. For best protection, Parr will furnish
a heavy-duty shipping carton and a foamed
plastic “trap” (spacer) which will align and
hold the calorimeter firmly in place within the
carton. The shipper must then prepare and
pack the calorimeter as described below.
1. Shut off the power and disconnect the
power cord. Shut off the oxygen and
nitrogen tanks. Vent the rinse tank and
disconnect all tubing and cables.
2. Drain the calorimeter and replace the
drain cap.
3. Close the bomb and tighten the bomb
head firmly.
4. Close the calorimeter cover and tape it
down with several strips of masking
tape.
5. Place the square plastic trap in the
bottom of the carton and lower the
calorimeter into place in the carton,
aligned on the bottom trap.
6. Place the matching trap on the top of
the calorimeter, as shown.
