orhavetheLiPobatterypluggedinwhenpoweringoverUSB.Thisisbecausetheon-boardu-blox
modemcanconsumesupto1.8Apeakcurrentwhenoperatingin2Gmode.TheBoronwill
intelligentlysourcepowerfromtheUSBmostofthetimeandkeepthebatterycharged.During
peakcurrentrequirements,theadditionalpowerwillbesourcedfromthebattery.Thisreducesthe
charge-dischargecycleloadonthebattery,thusimprovingitslongevity.
VUSBPIN
ThepinisinternallyconnectedtotheVBUSoftheUSBport.Thenominaloutputshouldbearound
4.5to5VDCwhenthedeviceispluggedintotheUSBportand0whennotconnectedtoaUSB
source.Youcanusethispintopowerperipheralsthatoperateatsuchvoltages.Donotexceedthe
currentratingoftheUSBport,whichisnominallyratedto500mA.
LiPo
Ifyouwanttomakeyourprojectstrulywireless,youcanpowerthedevicewithasinglecellLiPo
(3.7V).TheBoronhasanonboardLiPochargerthatwillchargeandpowerthedevicewhenUSB
sourceispluggedin,orpowerthedevicefromtheLiPoaloneintheabsenceoftheUSB.
NOTE:PleasepayattentiontothepolarityoftheLiPoconnector.NotallLiPobatteriesfollowthe
samepolarityconvention!
