Stair Rail Installaon Instrucons 2015 V1.0
Boom Post Locaon & Rail Length
Add blocking where necessary to support proper post
installaon.
Use the composite shims included with your posts to
make sure your post is plumb.
Lay boom rail on stair treads, evenly space stair rail
slots to make sure you have at least 2 5/8” from baluster
cut-out to the post, to allow for bracket, no more than
4” to meet code (1a). Adjust post, mark post locaon
(1b) and mark upper and lower boom rail to be cut
later. (1c)
Post Height
Measure up from the boom of boom rail while sing
on top of the stair tread 36” and add 2”, mark post with
Line.
Use a speed square to mark post.
Cut with chop saw, realign post with marks from earlier
(1b).
Post Install
Re-plumb post with shims, fasten post (hardware not
included), cut or break o excess shim.
Install Post base
Place post cap on top of post, using construcon
adhesive if necessary to hold in place.
