INTER DRIVING

Winter driving
inspected at your McLaren Retailer at the
onset of winter. This service includes the
following:
checking the antifreeze/anti-corrosion
concentration
adding concentrated cleaning agent to
the windscreen cleaning system
checking the battery
changing the tires

or ice-covered roads. The maximum effect of
the Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic
Stability Control systems is only achieved with
these tires.
Use winter tires of the same make and tread
on all wheels to maintain safe handling
characteristics. Change the tire type in
"Vehicle Settings! in the left-hand display, see
Tire Type, page 3.25.
Winter tires are directional, not asymmetrical,
and so must be fitted in accordance with the
directional markings on the sides of the tires.
NOTE: Only winter tires specified by
McLaren should be used.
WARNING: Replace winter tires with a
tread depth of less than 4 mm
immediately. They are not suitable for
winter use because they do not
provide sufficient grip, and could
cause an accident.
NOTE: A wheel change must be carried
out at your McLaren Retailer. The vehicle
could be damaged if it is jacked up
incorrectly.
Consult your McLaren Retailer for advice and
information regarding the maximum speed
specified for the winter tires fitted. Restrict
the maximum speed of the vehicle using the
ASL system, see Setting an upper speed limit,
page 2.44.
snow socks which have been approved for
McLaren vehicles. If you are intending to fit
snow socks, bear the following points in mind:
Only ever fit snow socks to both rear
wheels.
Comply with the manufacturer!s
installation instructions.
Do not exceed the maximum permissible
speed of 30 mph (50 kph). Remove the snow
socks as soon as possible if you are no longer
driving on snow-covered roads.
