MAINTAINING YOUR McLAREN
ATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Boost starting from another vehicle
are 12V and that the booster cables
have insulated clamps and are
approved for use with 12V batteries.
WARNING: Do not connect positive (+)
terminals to negative (-) terminals.
WARNING: Take care when working
near rotating parts of the engine.
Ensure cables are kept well clear.
NOTE: Do not use a 24V booster start
system. These produce excessive
voltage and can damage the vehicle!s
electrical system.
NOTE: It is not possible to push or tow
start a vehicle with a discharged battery.
NOTE: If using a donor vehicle, please
allow it to have the engine running for a
minimum of two minutes before trying
to start the disabled vehicle.

ensure the two vehicles do not touch.
2. Apply the parking brake and ensure that
the transmission of both vehicles is set
in neutral (or Park for vehicles with
automatic transmission).
3. Switch off the ignition and all electrical
equipment in both vehicles.
4. Open the luggage compartment and
remove any items stowed inside.
5. Remove the 2 quarter turn screws
securing the top of the battery access
cover.
