Description Pelco, Inc. has developed and tested a plan for implementing Symantec AntiVirus™ Corporate Edition. Symantec AntiVirus provides an additional degree of protection against viruses and can be installed, configured, and activated on your DX8100 DVR. NOTE: New viruses are created every day. To remain effective, your antivirus software must be active and updated on a regular basis.
Installing the Symantec System Center The Symantec System Center is installed using the Symantec AntiVirus CD. Install the Symantec System Center on each of the computers designated to manage your antivirus protection. To install the Symantec System Center: 1. Insert the Symantec AntiVirus CD into the CD/DVD drive. The Symantec AntiVirus installation page appears. Figure 1. Symantec AntiVirus Installation 2. Click Install Symantec AntiVirus (refer to Figure 1).
3. From the Symantec AntiVirus install page, click Install Symantec System Center (refer to Figure 2). The Symantec System Center InstallShield Wizard appears. Figure 3. Symantec System Center Wizard 4. Click Next (refer to Figure 3). The Symantec Software License page appears. 5. Do the following: a. Read the License Agreement. b. If you agree to the terms, click “I accept the terms in the license agreement.” c. Click Next. If Microsoft Management Console version 1.
6. To select the Symantec components you want to install: a. Click the check box to select a component you want to install (refer to Figure 4); deselect a component you do not want to install.
. Click Next (refer to Figure 6). The “Ready to Install the Program” page appears. Figure 7. Ready to Install Program 10. To start the installation, click Install (refer to Figure 7). Click Finish (refer to Figure 8). The Symantec system Center Installer Information dialog box appears. Figure 9.
INSTALLING THE PRIMARY MANAGEMENT SERVER The Symantec AntiVirus management server (also known as the primary management server) can be installed using the Symantec AntiVirus CD or from the Symantec System Center. NOTE: Be sure to install the Symantec AntiVirus management server on the computer where the Symantec System Center is installed. To install the primary management server using the CD: 1. Do one of the following: • Insert the Symantec AntiVirus CD into the CD-ROM drive.
3. Click Install Symantec AntiVirus Server (refer to Figure13). The Symantec AntiVirus Setup dialog box appears. Figure 12. Symantec AntiVirus Setup 4. Refer to Figure 12 and do the following: a. Verify that the Install Symantec AntiVirus server option is selected. If it is not selected, click Install Symantec AntiVirus server. b. Click Next.The Symantec Software License page appears. 5. Do the following: a. Read the License Agreement. b. If you agree, click “I agree” to accept the terms. c.
6. Refer to Figure 13 and do one of the following: • Click Next to accept the default settings. • Click a check box to select or deselect an option. The Select Computers page appears. Figure 14. Select Computers 7. Refer to Figure 14 and do the following: a. In the Network area, click a computer to select it, and then click Add. b. Click Next. The Server Summary page appears. Figure 15.
8. Review the information in the “Destination computers” area, and then click Next (refer to Figure 15). The Select Symantec AntiVirus Server Group dialog box appears. By default, the temporary server group is named Symantec AntiVirus 1. You will need to change the group name (refer to step 9). Figure 16. Select Symantec AntiVirus Server Group 9. In the Select Symantec AntiVirus Server Group text box (refer to Figure 16), type a server group name, and then click Next. The Setup Message dialog box appears.
12. Verify that “Automatic startup” is selected, and then click Next (refer to Figure 18). The “Using the Symantec System Center Program” dialog box appears. Figure 19. The Setup Progress dialog displays progress as “Finished.” Figure 21. Setup Progress 15. Once the installation process is complete, click Close.
CONFIGURING THE PRIMARY MANAGEMENT SERVER Every server group requires one primary management server; this server controls all other servers and clients in the server group. You cannot install clients from the Symantec System Center without configuring a primary management server. After you install Symantec AntiVirus primary management server, you should designate the server as the primary management server. This designation allows you to deploy other servers and clients from the Symantec System Center.
5. Refer to Figure 24) and do the following: a. In the “User name” text box, type the user name that you entered when you installed the primary management server. b. In the Password text box, type the password that you entered when you installed the antivirus primary management server. c. Click OK. 6. In the left pane, right-click the computer name of the primary management server. The shortcut menu appears. Figure 25. Symantec System Center Console 7.
9. For this installation procedure, the reporting server was not installed. In this case, do one of the following (refer to Figure 27): • Click Cancel. • (Optional) In the Reporting Server Options dialog box, enter the host name or IP address of the reporting server that you want to associate with the primary management server, and then click OK. Installing Symantec AntiVirus Client Software on the DX8100 The Symantec AntiVirus client that runs on the DX8100 server is installed using the Symantec CD. To install the Symantec AntiVirus client software: 1. From the DX8100 menu bar, do the following: a. Choose File > Exit. The Shut down dialog box appears. b. Click “Exit to Windows.” c. Click OK. The “Log On to Windows” dialog box appears. d. Enter the Windows® password and then click OK. The system logs you on to the Windows operating system. 2.
4. Click Install Symantec AntiVirus Client (refer to Figure 30). The Symantec System Center Wizard appears. Figure 31. Symantec System Center Wizard 5. Click Next (refer to Figure 31). The Symantec Software License dialog box appears. 6. Do the following: a. Read the License Agreement. b. If you agree to the terms, click “I accept the terms in the license agreement.” c. Click Next. The Setup Type dialog box appears. Figure 32.
7. Click Next (refer to Figure 32). The Network Setup Type dialog box appears. Figure 33. Network Setup Type 8. Click Managed (refer to Figure 33), and then click Next. The Select Server dialog box appears. Figure 34. Select Server 9. Refer to Figure 34 and then do the following: a. Type the primary management server host name in the Server Name text box. b. Click Next. The “Ready to Install the Program” dialog box appears. 10. Click Install. The installation process starts. 11.
