1. Enter a location name and an optional description.
The location name is used to identify the device. The location name can be a maximum of 50 characters and can include any letter, digit, or
special character, with the exception of single and double quotation marks. Location names are not case sensitive.
2. Optional: To synchronize the switcher’s internal clock to the clock in the workstation the Pelco ASCII device driver is installed on, click the
“Enable network time synchronization every 5 minutes” box.

Use the Properties tab to configure the animation settings of ASCII switcher icons viewed on maps in the VMX300(-E) client. Click Choose next to
each condition to select the color settings for that condition. Note that you can configure a different color setting for each switcher.
Unknown state: When the switcher’s CommStatus property equals Offline, device icons in the client are the color specified here.
Normal state: When the switcher’s CommStatus property equals Online, device icons in the client are the color specified here.
Alarm state: When the switcher’s Alarm write property equals True, the icon flashes alternately between Color 1 and Color 2. Note, however,
that flashing icons can increase the CPU workload. To reduce the overall workload, set Color 1 and Color 2 to the same color.
