First-time Operation

4. Push in and turn the control knob to Max.

5. If the burner does not light after 5 seconds, turn the control knobs to the OFF position.

6. Wait 5 minutes until the gas clears before attempting to light again.

7. If the burner does not light after several attempts, immediately close all gas valves and consult an

authorized service technician.

WARNING:

“Flash-back” may occur in or around the burner tubes. This event exhibits a characteristic “whooshing”

or jet-like sound. If this occurs, immediately turn off your burners, then remove and clean them with soap,

water, and a brush until all foreign objects are removed.

Before cooking with your appliance for the rst time, burn off any foreign matter and rid the unit of any

odors by running the main burners on Max with the lid down for about 10 minutes. The ames should

have a mostly blue color to them, but they may have a tint of yellow. In that case, you can make

adjustments to the air shutters to obtain a blue ame, which indicates proper gas ow (see the

Troubleshooting section on Page 20). Similarly, you should always preheat the grill before cooking by

turning the burners to Max for 5 minutes with the hood closed.

Manually Lighting the Side Searing Burner

1. Read instructions before lighting.

2. Open lid during lighting.

3. If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, turn the burner control(s) off, wait 5 minutes, and repeat the

lighting procedure.
