GENERAL INFORMATION - GÉNÉRALITÉS 7 GENERAL INFORMATION This coffee machine is suitable for preparing espresso coffee using coffee beans and it is equipped with a device to dispense steam and hot water. The machine is designed for domestic use and is not suitable for heavy or professional use.

INSTALLATION - MONTAGE 9 STARTING THE MACHINE - MISE EN MARCHE DE LA MACHINE Make sure the power button is not pressed and the machine is turned off. Check the machine features on the label on the bottom of the appliance. S’assurer que l’interrupteur général ne soit pas actionné. Vérifier les caractéristiques de la machine reportées sur la plaque signalétique située sur la partie inférieure. 1 Lift the lid of the coffee bean hopper. Soulever le couvercle du réservoir à café en grains.
10 INSTALLATION - MONTAGE The machine automatically primes the water circuit. If this operation is not completed, proceed manually as described from step 7 to 12. La machine effectue automatiquement l’amorçage du circuit. Press the water button. The indicator light turns on. Turn the knob to the position.
WATER FILTER - FILTRE 11 INTENZA WATER FILTER - FILTRE À EAU INTENZA To improve the quality of the water used, it is recommended to install the water filter. Remove the water filter from its packaging, immerse it vertically (with the opening facing upwards) in cold water and gently press the sides so as to let the air bubbles out. Afin d’améliorer la qualité de l’eau utilisée, il est conseillé d’ installer le filtre à eau.
12 CONTROL PANEL - TABLEAU DE COMMANDE Indicator light to empty the coffee grounds drawer: • permanently on: signals the need to empty the grounds drawer; this operation must be performed when the machine is turned on (steps 1 and 2, page 27). 14 ADJUSTMENTS - RÉGLAGES COFFEE VOLUME ADJUSTMENT PER CUP QUANTITE DU CAFÉ EN TASSE The coffee volume knob adjusts the amount of coffee brewed per cup. This adjustment has an immediate effect on the selected type of brewing. Pour régler la quantité de café distribuée dans une tasse. Ce réglage a un effet immédiat sur la distribution sélectionnée.
15 COFFEE GRINDER ADJUSTMENT - RÉGLAGE DU MOULIN The machine enables a slight adjustment of the coffee grinder. Coffee may be ground according to your own tastes. The adjustment must be performed by means of the pin located inside the coffee bean hopper. This must be pressed down and turned using the supplied key only. Press and turn the pin one notch at a time. You must brew 2-3 coffees before you will taste a difference. The references located inside the bean hopper indicate the grind setting.
16 ADJUSTMENTS - RÉGLAGES AROMA OPTI-DOSE (ADJUSTS THE COFFEE DOSE PER CUP) (OPTI-DOSE) INDICATION DE LA QUANTITÉ DE CAFÉ MOULU By pressing the button, it is possible to choose either a mild, a medium or a strong coffee. The coffee intensity is adjusted by setting the coffee quantity to be ground. En appuyant sur la touche , trois sélections sont possibles (léger, moyen, fort). 17 COFFEE STRENGTH - DENSITÉ DU CAFÉ The SBS dial has been carefully designed to give your coffee the fullness and intensity you desire. Simply turn the dial, and you will notice that the coffee brewed will adjust to the setting selected. SBS – SAECO BREWING SYSTEM The Saeco Brewing System (SBS) adjusts the fullness of the brewed coffee. The coffee may even be adjusted while it is brewing. This adjustment has an immediate effect on the selected type of brewing.
18 COFFEE BREWING - DISTRIBUTION DE CAFÉ COFFEE BREWING - DISTRIBUTION DE CAFÉ The coffee brewing cycle can be interrupted at any moment by pushing the button. To brew 2 cups, the machine dispenses the first coffee and briefly interrupts dispensing in order to grind the second serving of coffee. Coffee dispensing is then restarted and completed. .

22 MILK ISLAND (OPTIONAL) - MILK ISLAND (EN OPTION) This device, which may be purchased separately, enables you to easily and comfortably prepare delicious cappuccinos. Warning: before using the Milk Island, read the manual and all precautions carefully for correct use. Important note: the quantity of milk in the carafe must never be below the “MIN” minimum level nor exceed the “MAX” maximum level. After using the Milk Island, thoroughly clean all its components.
23 1 Fill the milk carafe with the quantity of milk desired (between the MIN and MAX levels indicated). 24 DESCALING - DÉTARTRAGE DESCALING - DÉTARTRAGE When performing a descaling cycle, it is necessary to be present during the entire process (about 40 minutes). Caution! Do not use vinegar as a descaler. The descaling must be done when indicated by the machine. Use a non-toxic, non-harmful descaling product for coffee machines. Saeco descaling solution is recommended. The used solution should be disposed of according to the manufacturer instructions and/or regulations in the country of use.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN 27 MAINTENANCE DURING OPERATION ENTRETIEN PENDANT LE FONCTIONNEMENT During normal operation, the indicator light for emptying the coffee grounds may illuminate (see page 12). 28 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN GENERAL MACHINE CLEANING - NETTOYAGE DE LA MACHINE The machine must be cleaned at least once a week. Do not immerse the machine in water or place any of its parts in a dishwasher. Do not use alcohol, solvents, and/or abrasive objects to clean the machine. If water is left in the tank for several days, do not use it. Do not dry the machine and/or its components using a microwave and/or conventional oven.
29 CLEANING THE BREW GROUP NETTOYER LE GROUPE DE DISTRIBUTION The Brew Group must be cleaned at least once a week. Before removing the Brew Group, remove the coffee grounds drawer as shown in fig. 1 on page 27. Once you have washed and inserted the Brew Group, insert the grounds drawer and close the service door. Lubricate the Brew Group after approximately 500 brewing cycles. The Brew Group lubricant can be purchased through Saeco or authorized service centers. In the U.S.

32 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEMS The machine does not turn on. CAUSES SOLUTIONS The machine is not connected to the Connect the machine to the power power source. source. During the normal filling of any reservoirs, all nearby reservoirs must be closed.
