Power Supply General Information Using AC power 1 Check if the power voltage, as shown on the type plate located on the rear of the set, corresponds to your local power supply. If it does not, consult your dealer or service center. 2 Connect the supplied switching adapter to the wall socket and the DC jack on the set. The set is now ready to use. 3 To switch the set off completely, withdraw the power cord from the wall socket.
Basic Operation Radio Basic operation 1 Connect the supplied switching adapter to the wall outlet and the DC jack on the set or insert batteries as described in Power Supply. ➜ The clock information is displayed. (See 2) • Press 2 to switch on the set. • Press 2 again to switch to standby mode. 2 To adjust volume, turn VOLUME +/–. Helpful hints: – When there is no power supply for the set, time information can still be displayed for a few minutes.
Radio Clock/Timer Storing preset stations You can store up to 10 FM stations and 10 MW stations respectively on PRESET for easy access. 1 In FM/MW mode, tune to your desired radio station (See "Auto tuning" and “Manual tuning”). 2 Press MEMORY/AUTO SCAN once, and then turn VOLUME +/- to select preset numbers. 3 – – 2 Helpful hints: If you have already saved a FM or MW station in that preset number, it will be overwritten by a new station.
Clock/Timer AUX IN Activating or deactivating timer 1 Press TIMER repeatedly to activate or deactivate the timer. ➜ ➜ – appears when timer is on. disappears when timer is off. Helpful hints: The function of switching timer on or off is available in both standby mode and active mode. AUX IN 1 2 3 You can listen to the sound of the connected external device through your AE2790. Press SOURCE once or more to select AUX IN mode. ➜ is displayed.
Safety & Maintenance (See 5) Safety & maintenance information • Place the set on a flat, hard and stable surface so that the system does not tilt. • Do not expose the set, batteries, CDs to humidity, rain, sand or excessive heat caused by heating equipment or direct sunlight. • The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing. • Adequate ventilation with a minimum gap of 15cm (6 inches) between the ventilation holes and surrounding surfaces is necessary to prevent heat build-up.
Troubleshooting If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre. WARNING: Do not open the set as there is a risk of electric shock. Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself, as this will invalidate the guarantee. Important notes for users in the U.K. Mains plug This apparatus is fitted with an approved 13 Amp plug.To change a fuse in this type of plug proceed as follows: 1. 2. 3. Remove fuse cover and fuse. Fix new fuse which should be a BS1362 3 Amp, A.S.T.A. or BSI approved type. Refit the fuse cover. If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place. If the mains plug contains a fuse, this should have a value of 3 Amp.
