Introduction With this system, you can: • enjoy audio from a USB storage device, SD/SDHC card, iPod/iPhone, and external player, • charge your iPod/iPhone, • listen to radio stations, and • make phone calls via Bluetooth.

In a mode other than DAB mode, press and hold to activate the selection of listening zones. Press to select a tuner band. / Tune to a radio station. Press to skip to the previous/next track. Press and hold to rewind a track or search fast forward. Press to enable or disable the MAX Sound feature.

Tip 3 Secure the DAB radio receiver to your car. • The pin arrangement for the ISO connectors depends on the type of your vehicle. To avoid damage to the unit, connect properly. Connect the DAB radio receiver Note • The DAB radio receiver and DAB radio antenna are not bundled. Consult your local retailer for purchase. • Make sure that no lead other than the DAB radio • • • • • antenna contacts the antenna connector of the DAB radio receiver.
2 3 Remove the mounting sleeve with the supplied disassembly tools. 4 Slide the unit into the sleeve until you hear a "click". Attach the front panel 1 Insert the notch on the front panel to the chassis on the main unit. Detach the front panel Note • Before you insert an SD/SDHC card or reset the system, detach the front panel. • Before you detach the front panel, make sure that the system is turned off. 1 2 2 10 Press the left end of the front panel inwards until it is securely locked with a "click". EN Press to release the front panel. Pull the front panel outwards to remove it.
4 Get started Set the clock 1 For the first time use 1 2 3 Press to turn on the system. » [PHILIPS] is displayed and then [SELECT OPERATING REGION] (select a radio region) scrolls. When one of the following options is displayed, rotate to select a radio region that matches your location.
Select a listening zone 1 2 Press and hold until one of the following options is displayed. • [ALL]: For all passengers • [FRONT-L]: For the front-left seat only • [FRONT-R]: For the front-right seat only • [FRONT]: For front passengers only Press / repeatedly to select a listening zone. Mute the button beep The beep sound of buttons is enabled by default. 1 2 3 Press and hold menu. to access the system Press / repeatedly until [BEEP ON] or [BEEP OFF] is displayed.
Select a tuner sensitivity To search for radio stations with strong signals only or more radio stations, you can change the tuner sensitivity. 1 2 3 Press and hold menu. Store radio stations automatically 1 2 to access the system Press / repeatedly until [LOCAL ON] or [LOCAL OFF] is displayed. Rotate to select a setting. • [LOCAL ON]: Search for radio stations with strong signals only. • [LOCAL OFF]: Search for radio stations with strong and weak signals.
3 Rotate to select [RDS ON]. » The RDS function is enabled. • To disable the RDS function, rotate to select [RDS OFF]. Select a program type Before tuning to RDS stations, you can select a program type to search for programs of the selected category only. 1 2 3 4 Press and hold menu. repeatedly until [PTY] is Press / displayed. Receive traffic announcement If you want to receive traffic announcement, enable the TA (Traffic Announcement) function. 1 2 3 Press and hold menu. 6 Listen to DAB radio stations to access the system Press / repeatedly until [TA ON] or [TA OFF] is displayed. Rotate to select a setting. • [TA ON]: When a traffic announcement is on air, the system automatically switches to the tuner mode and begins to broadcast the traffic announcement.
• Tune to a detected station 1 2 3 4 Press to exit the system menu. Press again to access the list of detected stations. » is displayed. / repeatedly or rotate until the name of the target station is displayed. Press Press to start listening. Program stations manually 1 2 3 Program radio stations You can assign a sequence number to a detected station. Afterwards, you can quickly tune to it by pressing the corresponding numeric button on the main unit.
Set up for weak reception 3 When the current reception gets poor, the product can automatically switch the source or mute the speakers according to your setup. 1 2 3 Press and hold to access the system menu. » [DAB SCAN] is displayed. Press / repeatedly until [DAB WEAK] scrolls. Rotate to select an option, and then press to confirm.
7 Play from a storage device 2 This system can play .mp3 and .wma files that are copied onto a compatible storage device. Note • Philips does not guarantee compatibility with all storage • devices. NTFS (New Technology File System) file system is not supported. 3 Press AS/SOURCE repeatedly to switch the source.
Switch tracks During play, you can switch tracks or folders quickly. 8 Play from an iPod/iPhone Switch tracks directly 1 2 3 Press to access the track list. » The file name of current track scrolls. 9 Use Bluetooth devices With this car audio system, you can listen to audio from a player or make a call through Bluetooth. Before pairing a device with this system, read its user manual for Bluetooth compatibility. Make sure that Bluetooth function is enabled on your device, and your device is set as visible to all other Bluetooth devices.
Play audio from a Bluetooth device Redial the last called number If the connected Bluetooth device supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), you can listen to tracks that are stored on the device through the system. If the device also supports Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) profile, you can control play on the system or with its remote control. 2 1 2 Play a track on the connected device. Press AS/SOURCE repeatedly to switch the source to [BT AUDIO]. » Play starts automatically.
10 Listen to an external player You can use the system to amplify the audio input from an external player, for example, MP3 player. 1 2 3 Press AS/SOURCE repeatedly to switch the source to [AUX IN]. Connect an audio input cable with a 3.5 mm connector on both ends between • the AUDIO-IN socket on the front panel, and • the audio output socket (usually the headphone socket) on the external player. 11 Adjust sound The following operations are applicable to all supported media.
12 Additional information Reset the system Note • If the fuse gets damaged immediately after it is replaced, an internal malfunction may occur. In such case, consult your Philips retailer. Upgrade the firmware If the system works abnormally, reset the system to factory default settings. Note • Power supply must not be interrupted during the upgrade. • When the firmware upgrade succeeds, all settings are restored to the factory default status. Cannot switch the source to iPod/iPhone • Check whether the iPod/iPhone is securely connected. • Check whether the iPod/iPhone is compatible with this system. • Check whether the iPod/iPhone battery is nearly empty. Connect it to this system for charging first. Cannot switch the source to [DAB/DAB+] • Check whether the DAB radio receiver is securely connected. • Check whether the DAB reception is enabled (see ‘Disable the DAB reception’ on page 17). Display shows ERR-12. • Data error.
