Question Answer
1. Why doesn’t the
toaster work?
Perhaps the plug is not
properly inserted in the wall
socket.
Perhaps the sleep mode is
active. Press any button to
check if the sleep mode has
been activated.
Perhaps the electronic system
of the toaster is defective.
Have the toaster examined
and repaired or replaced by
Philips or a service centre
authorised by Philips.
2. How do I remove
bread that is stuck in
the toaster?
Unplug the appliance and
let it cool down. Carefully
remove the slice or slices
from the toaster. Take care
not to damage the heating
elements while you remove
the slice or slices of bread.
Never use a metal object for
this purpose.
3. The toast is too
dark/too light. How
can I prevent this?
Select a lower setting next
time if your toast is too dark
and a higher setting if your
toast is too light.
4. Why does smoke
come out of the
toaster?
You have set a too high
toasting setting for the type of
bread inserted. Press the stop
button to stop the toasting
process.
5. The mains cord is
damaged. What do I
have to do?
If the mains cord of this
appliance is damaged, you
must have it replaced by
Philips, a service centre
authorised by Philips or
similarly qualied persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
6. Why has one side
of the bread not been
toasted?
You have selected the one-
side toasting mode. To toast
the other side as well, put
the bread in the slot with the
untoasted side facing the front
of the toaster. Then follow
the instructions in section
‘Toasting one side only’.
7. Why can’t I change
the browning setting
when I use the
warming mode or
reheat mode?
To warm up rolls and
croissants and to reheat
toasted bread, the toaster
operates at xed settings to
ensure an optimal end result.
8. Why is only one
side of my roll or
croissant warm?
On the warming rack, only
one side of the roll or
croissant is warmed. Turn
your roll or croissant over
and warm it up again. Follow
the instructions in section
‘Warming up rolls and
croissants’.
9. The display of the
toaster continues to
ash or be on. What
do I have to do?
Remove the plug from the
wall socket and then reinsert
it. If the display continues to
ash, the electronic system
is probably defective. In
this case, have the toaster
examined and repaired or
replaced by Philips or a
service centre authorised by
Philips.
10. Can I make
toasted sandwiches
(e.g. with cheese) in
this toaster?
No, this toaster is not
suitable for making toasted
sandwiches.
