Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.
Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before
you connect the appliance.
Do not use the appliance if the mains cord, the plug or the appliance itself is damaged.
If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised
by Philips or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Keep the appliance and its cord out of the reach of children. Do not let the mains cord hang
over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance stands.
Do not place the appliance on a hot surface and do not let the mains cord come into contact
with hot surfaces.
Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
Never pour milk, coffee or tea into the water tank.
Unplug the appliance if problems occur during brewing and before you clean it.

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic elds (EMF). If handled
properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on
scientic evidence available today.


Place the appliance on a at and stable surface.
2 Put the plug in the wall socket.
3 Wind excess cord clockwise round the cord storage facility at the back of the
appliance (Fig. 1).
Do not let the cord come into contact with hot surfaces.


Fill the cup or cups you are going to use with fresh, cold water.
2 Pour the water into the water tank (Fig. 2).
Do not ll the water tank beyond the MAX indication.
3 Put a paper lter (no. 101) in the lter holder. (Fig. 3)
Some types come with a permanent lter (Fig. 4).
Never use a permanent lter and a paper lter at the same time.
Note: You can also order the permanent lter separately (see chapter ‘Ordering accessories’).
4 Put ground coffee (lter-ne grind) in the lter (Fig. 5).
If you grind the coffee beans yourself, do not grind them too nely.
Take approx. two level measuring spoons of ground coffee for each cup when you use large
cups (for instance the cups that come with the appliance).
Take one level measuring spoon of ground coffee for each cup when you are use smaller cups.
You can adapt the amount of coffee to your own taste.
5 Place the cup or cups under the coffee spout (Fig. 6).
6 Press the button to switch on the appliance (Fig. 7).
The power-on light goes on.
Do not remove the cup or cups while the appliance is brewing!
