Clean cold water
Use clean cold water every day. If you have not used the machine for 1 day,
you have to ush it with clean cold water before you use it again. To ush
the machine, ll the water reservoir with clean cold water, place a bowl or
2 cups under the spout and press the 2-cup button a few times to brew hot
water until the water reservoir is empty.
Fresh coee pods
Use the Senseo® coee pods that have been specially developed for your
SENSEO® coee machine for a full, round taste.
A clean machine
Clean and descale the Philips Senseo® coee machine regularly. For more
information on why it is important to descale, how to descale or which
descaler to use, visit our website at www.philips.com/descale-senseo.
Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the machine and save it for
future reference.
Danger
- Never immerse the machine in water or any other liquid.
Warning
- Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the machine corresponds
to the local mains voltage before you connect the machine.
- Connect the machine to an earthed wall socket.
- If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a
service center authorized by Philips or similarly qualied persons in order
to avoid a hazard.
- Do not use the machine if the plug, the mains cord or the machine itself
is damaged.
- This machine can be used by children aged from 8 years and above
and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the machine in a safe way and if they
understand the hazards involved.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless
they are older than 8 and supervised.
- Keep the machine, its accessories and its cord out of the reach of
children aged less than 8 years.
- Children shall not play with the machine.
Caution
- Always return the machine to a service center authorized by Philips for
examination or repair. Do not attempt to repair the machine yourself,
otherwise your warranty becomes invalid.
- After unpacking the machine, never put your SENSEO® machine on its
side. Always keep it in upright position, also during transport.
- Never put normal ground coee or use torn pods in the pod holder, as
this causes it to become blocked.
- Always make sure that the spout, drip tray and coee collector are in
place when you brew coee.
- Do not use the machine in combination with a transformer, as this could
cause hazardous situations.
- Always put the machine on a at and stable surface.
- Do not place the machine on a hotplate or directly next to a hot oven,
heater or similar source of heat.
- Never let the machine operate unattended.
- Do not place the machine in a cabinet when in use.
- Do not use the machine at altitudes higher than 2200 meters above sea
level.
- Never pour any other liquid than clean cold water into the water
reservoir.
- Never ush the machine or let it brew coee when the spout is not in
place.
- Flush the coee machine with fresh water before you use it for the rst
time. This causes the system to ll with water, which is essential for the
machine to work properly.
- Do not use the machine at a temperature below 0 °C. Water left in the
machine may freeze and cause damage.
- Do not use the machine in combination with water softeners based on
sodium exchange.
- Descale the machine at least every 3 months. If you do not descale the
machine regularly, it may stop working properly. In this case, repair is not
covered by your warranty.
- Never interrupt the descaling process.
- Never use a descaling agent based on mineral acids such as sulphuric
acid, hydrochloric acid, sulphamic acid and acetic acid (e.g. vinegar).
These descaling agents may damage your coee machine.
- The machine is intended for normal household use only. It is not intended
for use in environments such as sta kitchens of shops, oces, farms or
other work environments, nor is it intended to be used by clients in hotels,
motels, bed and breakfasts and other residential environments.
Compliance with standards
This machine complies with all applicable standards and regulations
regarding exposure to electromagnetic elds.
The energy consumption of this machine in o mode is less than 0.5 Watt.
This means that this machine complies with European Directive 2009/125/EC,
which sets the ecological design requirements for energy-using products.
Frost-free storage
If you already used the coee machine and have therefore already ushed
it with water, you may only use and store it in a frost-free place to prevent it
from becoming damaged.

Troubleshooting
This chapter summarizes the most common problems you could encounter
with the machine. If you are unable to solve the problem with the
information below, visit www.philips.com/support for a list of frequently
asked questions or contact the Consumer Care Center in your country.

I cannot open the
lid.
A temporary vacuum
has developed under
the lid.
Switch o the coee
machine. Pull up the lever
and wait 24 hours before you
open the lid. You may need
to use some force. Always
make sure the pod holders
are clean and the sieve is not
clogged to prevent vacuum.
The coee machine
produces less
coee than before.
Perhaps the sieve in
the center of the pod
holder is clogged.
If the sieve is clogged, use a
washing-up brush to unclog
the sieve. If you cannot
unclog it properly with the
washing-up brush, put the
pod holder in the machine
and descale the machine.
Descale the machine (see
chapter 'CALC').
HD7868, HD7866,
HD7864: Perhaps
the strength select
switch is set to strong
coee.
Set the switch to mild coee
to get a normal amount of
coee.
I cannot close the
lid properly.
Perhaps a used
coee pod is
sticking to the water
distribution disc.
If this is the case, remove the
used pod.
The coee is not
strong enough.
You may not have
used the right
number of pods or
may have pressed
the wrong button.
Use 1 pod in combination
with the 1-cup pod holder
and the 1-cup button.
Use 2 pods in combination
with the 2-cup pod holder
and the 2-cup button.
The pod(s) may not
have been placed
in the pod holder
properly.
Place the coee pod(s)
properly in the center of the
pod holder, to prevent water
from escaping along the edge
of the pod(s). When you use
two coee pods on top of
each other, make sure that
the convex sides of both
pods point downwards and
press the pods lightly into
the pod holder. Make sure
that the coee in the pod is
distributed evenly.
You may have used
the same pod twice.
Place a new pod in the pod
holder to brew a fresh cup of
coee.
Perhaps you need a
dierent avor.
If you prefer a more robust
avor, Senseo® coee pods
with a stronger blend are
available.
HD7868, HD7866,
HD7864: Perhaps the
strength select switch
is set to mild coee.
Set the strength select switch
to strong coee.
The coee is too
strong.

washing-up brush to unclog
the sieve. If you cannot clean
it properly with the washing-
up brush, put the pod holder
in the machine and descale
the machine (see chapter
‘CALC’).
The sealing ring
may be stuck under
the edge of the
distribution disc.
Check if the sealing ring is
stuck under the edge of
the distribution disc. If it is,
pull it out from under the
distribution disc carefully.
The machine has
been stored in a
room that was not
frost-free.
Contact the Philips Consumer
Care Center in your country
Water drops on the
worktop may be the
result of placing or
removing the water
reservoir or removing
used pod(s).
Check if the water drops on
the worktop are not the result
of placing or removing the
water reservoir or removing
used coee pods. Make sure
that you do not remove the
water reservoir when the
coee machine is heating up.
This may cause water that
normally ends up in the water
reservoir to leak out of the
machine.
In all other cases, contact the
Philips Consumer Care Center
in your country.
Flush before rst use
Flush the machine before rst use. After the ushing cycle (which only takes
approx. 2 minutes), the machine is ready for brewing coee.
Height-adjustable drip tray
You can adjust the height of the drip tray to the height of your coee cup.
Strength select (HD7868, HD7866, HD7864)
You can choose between a strong short coee and a long mild coee.
Special coees
To brew a special coee, place a cappuccino pod, a hot chocolate pod or
another special coee pod in the 2-cup pod holder and press the 1-cup button.
Cleaning
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids
such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.
CALC
2x descaling, 2x rinsing
Descale the machine at least every 3 months. Use liquid Senseo descaler
only. The descaling procedure consists of two descaling cycles and two
ushing cycles. Each cycle lasts 5 minutes. For each descaling cycle, you
have to pour half a bottle of descaling liquid into the water reservoir and
ll it up with fresh water. Press the 2-cup button several times until all
descaling mixture is used up. Use the 1-cup pod holder with a used pod or
the thin descaling lter during the rst descaling cycle and use the 2-cup
pod holder with a used pod or the thick descaling lter during the second
descaling cycle. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water and press the 2-cup
button several times until the water reservoir is empty. Repeat this for the
second ushing cycle. Do not interrupt the descaling cycles and do not
switch o the machine before you have performed the two ushing cycles.

Sauberes kaltes Wasser
Verwenden Sie täglich sauberes kaltes Wasser. War die Maschine über
1 Tag nicht in Gebrauch, lassen Sie vor dem nächsten Aufbrühen sauberes
kaltes Wasser durchlaufen. Um die Maschine durchzuspülen, füllen Sie den
Wassertank mit sauberem kaltem Wasser, stellen Sie eine Schüssel oder
zwei Tassen unter den Auslauf, und drücken Sie mehrmals die 2-Tassen-
Taste, damit heißes Wasser durchläuft, bis der Wassertank leer ist.
Frische Kaeepads
Verwenden Sie die speziell für Ihre Senseo® Kaeemaschine entwickelten
SENSEO® Kaeepads für ein weiches, volles Aroma.
Ein sauberes Gerät
Reinigen und entkalken Sie die Philips Senseo® Kaeemaschine regelmäßig.

Wichtig
Lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung vor dem Gebrauch der Maschine
aufmerksam durch, und bewahren Sie sie für eine spätere Verwendung auf.
Gefahr
- Tauchen Sie die Maschine niemals in Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten.
Warnhinweis
- Prüfen sie, bevor Sie das Gerät anschließen, ob die Spannungsangabe
am Boden des Geräts mit der örtlichen Netzspannung übereinstimmt.
- Die Netzsteckdose muss schutzgeerdet sein.
- Um Gefährdungen zu vermeiden, darf ein defektes Netzkabel nur von
einem Philips Service-Center, einer von Philips autorisierten Werkstatt
oder einer ähnlich qualizierten Person durch ein Original-Ersatzkabel
ersetzt werden.
- Verwenden Sie die Maschine nicht, wenn der Netzstecker, das Netzkabel
oder die Maschine selbst defekt oder beschädigt ist.
- Dieses Gerät kann von Kindern ab 8 Jahren und Personen mit
eingeschränkten physischen, sensorischen oder geistigen Fähigkeiten
oder ohne Erfahrung und besondere Kenntnisse verwendet werden, wenn
sie beim Gebrauch des Geräts beaufsichtigt werden oder in den sicheren
Gebrauch des Geräts unterwiesen wurden und die verbundenen
Gefahren verstanden haben.
- Reinigung und Pege dürfen nicht von Kindern durchgeführt werden,
außer sie sind älter als 8 Jahre und werden beaufsichtigt.
- Sorgen Sie dafür, dass Kinder unter 8 Jahren keinen Zugang zu der
Maschine, dem Zubehör und zum Kabel der Maschine haben.
- Kinder dürfen nicht mit der Maschine spielen.
Achtung
- Geben Sie das Gerät zur Überprüfung bzw. Reparatur stets an ein Philips
Service-Center. Versuchen Sie nicht, das Gerät selbst zu reparieren, da
die Garantie sonst verfällt.
- Legen Sie die SENSEO® Maschine nach dem Auspacken nie auf der
Seite ab. Halten Sie sie stets aufrecht, auch beim Transport.
- Verwenden Sie keinesfalls normalen gemahlenen Kaee oder beschädigte
Pads im Padhalter, da dies das Gerät verstopfen würde.
- Achten Sie immer darauf, dass der Ausgießer, die Abtropfschale und die
Kaeesammelkammer ordnungsgemäß eingesetzt sind, wenn Sie Kaee
brühen möchten.
- Aus Sicherheitsgründen darf das Gerät nicht mit einem Transformator
betrieben werden.
- Stellen Sie die Maschine auf eine ebene und stabile Fläche.
- Stellen Sie die Maschine nicht auf eine Warmhalteplatte, direkt neben
einen heißen Ofen, eine Heizung oder eine ähnliche Wärmequelle.
- Die Maschine darf während der Benutzung nicht in einem Schrank
platziert werden.
- Lassen Sie das eingeschaltete Gerät niemals unbeaufsichtigt.
- Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht in Höhenlagen von über 2200 m.
- Füllen Sie niemals eine andere Flüssigkeit als sauberes kaltes Wasser in
den Wassertank.
- Spülen Sie die Maschine nicht durch, und bereiten Sie keinen Kaee zu,
solange der Kaeeauslauf nicht eingesetzt ist.
- Spülen Sie die Kaeemaschine mit frischem Wasser durch, bevor Sie sie
das erste Mal verwenden. Dabei füllt sich das System mit Wasser. Dies ist
für den ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb der Maschine entscheidend.
- Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht bei Temperaturen unter 0 °C. In der
Maschine verbleibendes Wasser kann gefrieren und Schäden
verursachen.
- Verwenden Sie in Verbindung mit Ihrer Kaeemaschine keine
natriumhaltigen Wasserenthärtungsmittel.
- Entkalken Sie die Maschine mindestens alle drei Monate. Wenn Sie
die Maschine nicht regelmäßig entkalken, arbeitet sie möglicherweise
nicht mehr richtig. In diesem Fall ist die Reparatur von der Garantie
ausgeschlossen.
- Unterbrechen Sie nie den Entkalkungsvorgang.
- Verwenden Sie keine Entkalker auf Basis von Mineralsäuren,
beispielsweise Schwefel-, Salz-, Sulfamin- oder Essigsäure (z. B. Essig).
Diese Entkalker könnten Ihre Kaeepadmaschine beschädigen.
- Die Maschine ist nur für den normalen Hausgebrauch bestimmt. Sie
ist nicht für die Verwendung in Umgebungen wie z. B. Personalküchen
in Geschäften, Büros, landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben oder anderen
Arbeitsumgebungen vorgesehen. Ebenso ist sie nicht für die Nutzung
durch Kunden in Hotels, Motels, Unterkünften mit Frühstücksangebot
oder anderen Unterkünften bestimmt.
Einhaltung von Normen
Diese Maschine erfüllt sämtliche Normen und Vorschriften bezüglich
Gefährdung durch elektromagnetischen Felder.
Der Energieverbrauch dieser Maschine im ausgeschalteten Modus beträgt
weniger als 0,5 Watt. Das bedeutet, dass diese Maschine der EU-Richtlinie
2009/125/EC entspricht, die die ökologischen Designanforderungen für
energieverbrauchende Produkte regelt.
Frostfreie Aufbewahrung
Wenn Sie die Kaeemaschine bereits verwendet und daher bereits mit
Wasser durchgespült haben, sollten Sie sie nur an einem frostfreien Ort
verwenden und aufbewahren, um Beschädigungen zu vermeiden.

Fehlerbehebung
In diesem Kapitel werden die häugsten Probleme beschrieben, die beim
Gebrauch der Maschine auftreten können. Sollten Sie ein Problem mithilfe
der nachstehenden Informationen nicht beheben können, besuchen Sie
unsere Website unter: www.philips.com/support, und ziehen Sie die
Liste „Häug gestellte Fragen“ hinzu, oder wenden Sie sich an den Philips
Kundendienst in Ihrem Land.

Es bendet sich nicht
genug Wasser im
Wasserbehälter.
Füllen Sie den
Wasserbehälter, und
vergewissern Sie sich, dass
Sie ihn ordnungsgemäß in die
Maschine einsetzen.
Der Schwimmer
im Wasserbehälter
ist möglicherweise
eingeklemmt.
Entleeren Sie den
Wasserbehälter, und
schütteln Sie ihn einige
Male, um den Schwimmer
zu lösen. Reinigen Sie den
Wasserbehälter mit heißem
Wasser und etwas Spülmittel
oder in der Spülmaschine.
Wenn diese Lösungen das
Problem nicht beheben,
kontaktieren Sie das Philips
Service-Center in Ihrem Land.
Der Kaee ist nicht
heiß genug.
Sie haben die
Maschine über einen
längeren Zeitraum
genutzt, ohne sie zu
entkalken.
Führen Sie den
Entkalkungsvorgang durch
(siehe Kapitel „Entkalken“).
Die
Kaeetemperatur
geht in der Tasse
schnell zurück.
Verwenden Sie keine
Tassen, die zu groß
oder dickwandig
sind.
Verwenden Sie dünnwandige
Tassen. Diese entziehen dem
Kaee weniger Wärme als
dickwandige Tassen.
Sie können die
Kaeemaschine und die
Tasse durch vorheriges
Zubereiten einer Tasse
heißen Wassers vorwärmen,
ohne ein Kaeepad in den
Padhalter einzusetzen.
