Attach speakers to the main unit Engl i sh 3 Connect Place the unit FR FL SW SUBWOOFER 1 2 3 Place the unit near to the TV. Keep the speakers at the normal listening ear-level and directly parallel to the listening area. Place the subwoofer at the corner of the room or at least one meter away from the TV. Option 1: Connect through HDMI Option 2: Connect through SCART 1 FR FL Connect the black plug of the composite AV cable to “AV OUT” on the unit. SW TV HDMI IN SCART IN Connect HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), DVI (Digital Visual Interface), or HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Contents Protection)-compliant TVs through HDMI for the best picture quality. This connection transmits both video and audio signals. Through this connection, you can watch DVDs that contain HD (High-Definition) content.
Connect the MP3 link cable (not supplied) to: • the MP3 LINK socket on the main unit. • the headphone socket on an external device. 3 TV 1 Connect the single side plug of the composite AV cable to “ Component “ on the unit. 2 Connect other plugs to the TV Component Video Input sockets (yellow plug to green socket, red plug to blue socket, white plug to red socket). Start to play the device (see the device user manual).

Select the correct TV system Change this setting if the video does not appear correctly. By default, this setting matches the most common setting for TVs in your country. 1 2 3 4 5 Press OPTIONS. Select a setting and then press OK. • [PAL] - For TV with PAL color system. • [NTSC] - For TV with NTSC color system. • [Multi] - For TV that is compatible with both PAL and NTSC. When you contact Philips, ensure that the apparatus is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
Engl i sh Unable to select Progressive Scan • Ensure the video output mode is set to [Pr/Cr Pb/Cb Y]. No sound on HDMI connection. • You may not hear any sound if the connected device is non-HDCP compliant or only DVI-compatible. No picture on HDMI connection. • Check if the HDMI cable is faulty. Replace a new HDMI cable. • If this happens when you change the HDMI video resolution, select the correct resolution until the picture appears.
12 Glossary A Analog audio Sound that has not been turned into numbers. Analog sound is available when you use the AUDIO LEFT/RIGHT. These red and white jacks send audio through two channels, the left and right. Aspect ratio Aspect ratio refers to the length to height ratio of TV screens. The ratio of a standard TV is 4:3, while the ratio of a high-definition or wide TV is 16:9. The letter box allows you to enjoy a picture with a wider perspective on a standard 4:3 screen.
PBC Playback Control. A system where you navigate through a Video CD/Super VCD with on-screen menus that are recorded onto the disc. You can enjoy interactive playback and search. Progressive scan The progressive scan displays twice the number of frames per second than in an ordinary TV system. It offers higher picture resolution and quality. S J JPEG A very common digital still picture format.
