Cafe Door Installation
Tools for installation: a pencil, 3/32”
drill bit, a tape measure, safety glasses
and a drill.
Items included in your Café door
package:
Top and Bottom Pivots
Top and Bottom Jamb Hinges
• Hinge Screws
Door Position for Installation:
The door should be installed with the
high end of the decorative arch towards
the center of the door opening.
1. Install the top pivot to top of the door:
Measure and mark 7/16” in from the
finished back edge of the café door.
Place the top pivot on your mark and
drill 2 pilot holes to mark your location
then using the pilot holes as your guide,
attach the top pivot to the door.
2. Mount the Bottom pivot to the bottom
of the door: Measure and mark 5/16”
from the finished back edge of the café
door. Place the bottom pivot on your
mark and drill a pilot hole to mark your
location, then using the pilot holes as
your guide, attach the bottom pivot to
the door.
Note: The position of the café door at
the opening will vary based on personal
preference. In general a measurement
of 18” to 24” from the finished floor to
the bottom edge of finished doors is
recommended.
3. Measure your desired location from
the floor and also mark the center of the
jamb as a guide line.
Mount the bottom jamb hinge to the
center of the door jamb at your desired
height. Please note that the bottom
hinge requires 7/8” of height.
4. Insert the bottom pivot of the café
door into bottom door jamb hinge.
5. Mark the door jamb at the top of the
door.
6. Remove the door and make another
mark 3/8” above your first one.
7. Place the door back onto the bottom
door jamb hinge and place the
top jamb section on the pivot post and
align the bottom of the jamb
section with your top pencil mark.
8. Using the drill, attach the top jamb
hinge to the door jamb. It is very
important to leave this 3/8” height
between the upper and lower hinge
sections on the pivot post as this
compensates for the rise of the door
when swung into the open position.
Repeat this process on the
remaining door. The pivot post and
hinges are designed so that the café
doors will remain in the open position as
well if you choose.
