NEVER stop the engine of your vehicle or turn
off the power supply to the navigation system
until the installation is completed. Turning the
power off during upgrade process causes a
malfunction or failure of the navigation sys-
tem.

compatibility with iPhone
with Lightning connector
p The following descriptions apply to the fol-
lowing models.
AVIC-F940BT, AVIC-F8430BT
p In this manual, iPhone 5 and iPod touch
(5th generation) will be referred to as
“iPhone with Lightning connector”.
p Note that this product does not contain
“Firmware update for iPhone 5 / iPod touch
(5th generation) AppRadio Mode compat-
ibility”.
To use iPhone with Lightning connector, be
sure to apply the update in addition to com-
pleting the software upgrade with this pro-
duct.

p The update is only allowed for the following
models.

p The following cables are required for con-
nection to this navigation system.
! VGA/USB interface cable for iPod /
iPhone (CD-IV202NAVI) (sold separately)
! Lightning to VGA Adapter (Apple Inc.
products) (sold separately)
! Lightning to USB cable (CD -IU52) (sold
separately) or Lightning to USB cable
(supplied with iPhone with Lightning
connector)
Notes:
! If you have already applied the update using
“Firmware update for iPhone 5 / iPod touch
(5th generation) AppRadio Mode compatibil-
ity” and then you complete the software up-
grade with this product, the AppRadio Mode
(previously known as Advanced App Mode)
function will be disabled. In this case, go to
the website and reapply the update by down-
loading “Firmware update for iPhone 5 / iPod
touch (5th generation) AppRadio Mode com-
patibility” dedicated to this product.
! Be sure to complete the software upgrade
with this product, and then apply the update
by downloading “Firmware update for iPhone
5 / iPod touch (5th generation) AppRadio
Mode compatibility” dedicated to this product,
otherwise problems may occur.
! iPod source is unavailable when an iPhone
with Lightning connector is connected to this
navigation system.
! If you use only the hands-free function of
iPhone 5, there is no need to apply the update
by downloading “Firmware update for iPhone
5 / iPod touch (5th generation) AppRadio
Mode compatibility”.
