Connecting your iPod/iPhone/iPad
Caution
When connecting iPod/iPhone/iPad units, always use
the Dock Connector to USB Cable provided with iPod/
iPhone/iPad units, or a commercially available Dock
Connector to USB cable designed to support iPod/
iPhone/iPad.
This unit does not provide the Dock Connector to USB
cable.
1 Open the terminal cover (XW-SMA3 only).
2 Connect your iPod/iPhone/iPad.
Playing your iPod/iPhone/iPad
Caution
When your iPod/iPhone/iPad is connected to this unit
and you wish to operate the iPod/iPhone/iPad dir ectly,
be sure to hold the iPod/iPhone/iPad steady with the
other hand to prevent malfunctions due to faulty
contacts.
1 Connect your iPod/iPhone/iPad.
2 Press
input
to select
iPod
as the input
source.
The input indicator of the unit lights red.
The following operations are possible for iPod/iPhone/iPad.
Important
If this unit cannot play your iPod/iPhone/iPad, perform
the following troubleshooting checks:
• Check whether the iPod/iPhone/iPad is supported by
this unit.
• Reconnect the iPod/iPhone/iPad to the unit. If this
doesn’t seem to work, try resetting your iPod/iPhone/
iPad.
• Check the iPod/iPhone/iPad software is supported by
this unit.
If the iPod/iPhone/iPad cannot be operated, check the
following items:
• Is the iPod/iPhone/iPad connected correctly?
Reconnect the iPod/iPhone/iPad to the unit.
• Is the iPod/iPhone/iPad experiencing a hangup? Try
resetting the iPod/iPhone/iPad, and reconnect it to the
unit.
Tip
When the unit’s power is turned ON, the iPod/iPhone/
iPad connected to the unit will be charged.
When this unit is running by the built-in battery, iPod/
iPhone/iPad is not charge
d (XW-SMA3 only).
When in
put is switched from iPod to another function,
the iPod/iPhone/iPad’s power will be turned off
automatically.
If the unit is set to standby when an iPod/iPhone/iPad is
connected, the iPod/iPhone/iPad will be turned off
automatically.
When no device is connected to the iPod/iPhone/iPad
connector, if the unit is not operated for 20 minutes or
more, the unit’s power will automatically turn OFF.
