SL8R Additional Parts Information
and Installation Instructions
Congratulations on becoming a SL8R owner. As well as the customary manual, spares package and bottle of Eclipse oil,
there are a few additional items included in your SL8R box –
a High Pressure Valve Guide;
a Non-Adjustable LPR Cap;
an Auxiliary Port Cable.
Installation guidelines for these items can be found below. Please note that installation should only be carried out by
a competent, qualified Airsmith. If you are at all unsure about the installation of these items then please contact either
Planet Eclipse or one of our Certified Service Centres.
Prior to commencing installation of any parts it is essential that all compressed gas sources are removed from
the marker and that all gas is fully discharged from the various regulators and chambers within the marker.
Remove any connected loader and barrel and check that there are no paintballs in the breech of the marker.
High-Pressure Valve Guide
The High Pressure Valve Guide can be used to replace the Low
Pressure Valve Guide that is factory fitted to the SL8R. The High
Pressure Valve Guide enables the SL8R to be set up for maximum
efficiency by allowing the dwell time to be lowered and the inline
regulator pressure to be raised, resulting in more shots per tank
compared to the standard set-up.
The High Pressure Valve Guide can be identified by the letters ‘HP’
engraved on the side of the valve and a single dot in the valve
plug recess.
The Low Pressure Valve Guide has the letters ‘LP engraved on the
side of the valve and two dots in the valve plug recess.
Detailed instructions on how to replace the Valve Guide can be
found in the Maintenance section of the Ego 8 manual.
Non-Adjustable LPR Cap
The SL8R is factory fitted with an Adjustable Low Pressure Regulator Cap which enables the user to set the cycling
pressure as required. The separate Non-Adjustable LPR Cap is designed to set the LPR to the optimum operating pressure
for a standard SL8R in a reduced package size. Unscrew the Adjustable LPR Cap and remove the gold spring and LPR
piston from the cap. The silver spring is not required. Push the piston into the Non-Adjustable LPR Cap and slide the gold
spring over the piston. Screw the Non-Adjustable LPR Cap onto the SL8R. Detailed instruction on LPR removal can be
found in maintenance section of the Ego 8 manual.
Auxiliary Port Cable
This cable is used to connect third party RF transmitters (not supplied) to the SL8R circuit board. Remove the three grip
screws on the right hand side of the grip frame using a 5/64th Hex Key so that you have access to the circuit board. The
Auxiliary Cable has a connector at both ends and the smaller connector plugs into the 3 pin socket on the circuit board,
just below the solenoid socket. The larger connector plugs onto the RF Transmitter – it doesn’t normally matter which
way around but check with the transmitter manufacturer for more information. Once connected, carefully place the
cable and transmitter into the grip frame. NOTE: Ensure that all wires are kept clear of both the Micro-Switch and Opto
sensor. Refer to the Ego 8 manual to enable the AUX OUT feature in the HARDWARE Menu, as this must be switched to
“ON” to enable the board to send a signal to the RF transmitter. Using the 5/64th Hex Key, screw in the three grip screws
into the right hand side of the frame to complete the installation.
