1. Package Contents Thank you for purchasing PLANET GEPON descriptions of these models are as follows: OLT EPL-2220/4000/8000. 2. Requirements PLANET GEPON OLT provides a GUI utility and Web page to manage the system. You can also use the console cable with terminal emulator to manage the OLT. The following equipment is necessary for further management: Subscriber PC is installed with Ethernet NIC (Network Card) EMS Software (Windows Platform) Management Port connection zz Network cables -- Use standard network (UTP) cables with RJ45 connectors The above PC is installed with Web browser.
3. EMS Installation 1. Download the EMS software from PLANET website (as shown in the QR code below). After unzipping the zip file, you will see the EMS-Server and EMS-Client execution files. Next, double-click the EMS-Server to install. 2. Once the Setup program starts running, please click the “Next” button for starting installation. Figure 3-1: EMS-Server Setup Wizard Screen 3. During the installation, it will ask for the place to put the EMS folder.
4. Click the “Close” button for completing the EMS-Server Setup. Figure 3-3: EMS-Server Installation Completing Screen 5. When the EMS-Server installation is done, the icon will appear on the desktop. Figure 3-4: EMS-Server icon 6. Then double-click EMS-Client to install the utility. Once the Setup program starts running, please click the “Next” button for starting installation.

4. Starting EMS Management GEPON OLT EPL-2220 PC / Workstation Management Port IP Address: 192.168.8.x RJ45/UTP Cable IP Address: 192.168.8.100 Figure 4-1: IP Management Diagram The following shows how to start up the EMS Management of the GEPON OLT. Please note the GEPON OLT is configured through an Ethernet connection, making sure the manager PC must be set to the same IP subnet address. For example, the default IP address of the GEPON OLT is 192.168.8.
4. After entering the user name and password, the EMS utility main screen will appear as in Figure 4-3. Figure 4-3: Main Screen of GEPON OLT 5. Right-click on the “map” and select “Add Device” to add the OLT. 6. Enter the management IP of OLT and select Read community to public, Write community to private.
5. Starting Web Management The following shows how to start up the Web Management of the GEPON OLT. To configure the Web system, connect a UTP cable to an Ethernet port on a workstation and to the management port of the GEPON OLT. Note the OLT is configured through an Ethernet connection. Please make sure the manager PC must be set to the same IP subnet address. For example, the default IP address of the OLT is 192.168.8.100, then the manager PC should be set to 192.168.8.
3. After entering the password, the main screen appears as Figure 5-3 shows. Figure 5-3: Web Main Screen of OLT The menu on the left of the Web page lets you access all the commands and statistics the OLT provides. Figure 5-4: OLT Menu Now, you can use the Web management interface management or manage the OLT by console interface. to continue the OLT Please refer to the user’s manual for more information.
6. Terminal Setup To configure the system, connect a serial cable to a COM port on a PC or notebook computer and to RJ45 type of serial port of the GEPON OLT. A terminal program is required to make the software connection to the OLT. 1. Run terminal program on the OS. 2.
7. Logging on to Console Once the terminal is connected to the device, power on the GEPON OLT and the terminal will display “running testing procedures”. Then, the following message asks to log in user name and password. The factory default user name and password are shown as follows and the login screen in Figure 7-1 appears. Username: admin Password: admin Figure 7-1: OLT Console Login Screen The user can now enter commands to manage the OLT.
8. Configuring IP Address The OLT is shipped with default IP address shown below. IP Address: 192.168.8.100 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 To modify a new IP address for the OLT, please use the procedures as follows Show the current IP Address 1. At the “(config-if-aux)#” prompt, enter “show aux ip address”. 2. The screen displays the current IP address as shown in Figure 8-1. Figure 8-1: IP Information Screen Configuring IP Address 3.
4. Repeat step 1 to check if the IP address is changed. Store current OLT configuration 5. At the “(config-if-aux)#” prompt, enter the following command and press . epon-olt(config-if-aux)# write Figure 8-3: Saving Current Configuration Command Screen If the IP is successfully configured, the OLT will apply the new IP address setting immediately. You can access the Web interface of the OLT through the new IP address.
