Application Instructions
Description and Usage: PlushColor is a non-fading, weather-proof, 100% acrylic coating for use on plant mix asphalt,
emulsified asphalt and suitable concrete surfaces. PlushColor provides a tough, durable surface of uniform texture that
remains flexible. PlushColor was specifically designed for use on outdoor and indoor tennis courts, basketball courts, high
traffic recreational areas and various other usages. Unlike other acrylic surfacing systems, each coat of PlushColor, is fully
pigmented, resulting in richer, longer lasting, in-depth color.
Coverage: Coverage will depend upon the porosity of the surface to which the PlushColor is applied. Applying Plush Acrylic
Resurfacer prior to PlushColor will improve the coverage rate.
Drying Time: 90 minutes under optimum conditions. Humidity, surface temperature and ambient temp affects drying time.
Suggested Equipment:
Empty pail for mixing
Sand (80-100 mesh available at most Supply Houses (Play sand WILL NOT work).
Water
Drill mixer bit
Rubber squeegee
Mix Design: Pour half of PlushColor in empty pail. Add the recommended amount of sand and water to each half. Use drill
mixing bit or other mixing device to ensure all three components are mixed fully. Each pail should be mixed consistently to
achieve a uniformed color finish.
Note: The amount of sand and water may be slightly adjusted to achieve the results desired. Each surface is different,
some require more sand, less sand, more water, less water, etc.
Application Methods: PlushColor should be applied using a 24" to 48" long, flexible, 50 to 70 durometer, rubber squeegee
of good quality and in good condition. 2 coats recommended for an even, long lasting finish. Have your pails mixed ahead
of time. Each application must thoroughly dry before application of second coat. On a two-tone color court, the playing
area (inside area) is coated first (Apply a sheet of roofing paper along baseline to give you room to work with the excess
paint when you have finished a coat secure it with masking tape). Pour a bead across the width of the playing area and
using squeegee pull the material from side to side. Slightly overlap each pass and do not let the bead run out (to prevent
marks). When finished with a coat use a shovel and pail to scoop up any excess paint. Once first coat has dried completely
you can apply the second coat. Once that coat has fully dried you are ready to coat the outside playing area (out of bounds
area). Snap a fresh chalk line around the perimeter of the playing area so you will have a good guide when applying the
PlushColor. Carefully (slowly) apply the color 1 inch into the playing area (yes, going over the chalk line). The lines are 2”
