is approximately 50 times that permitted in an occupational environment.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) conducted a feeding study in rats and mice in which either 25,000 or
50,000 parts per million titanium dioxide was given in their diets for two years. Under the conditions of the
NCI test, titanium dioxide did not cause cancer by the oral route.
This product contains Crystalline Silica (CS) which is considered a hazard by inhalation. The International
Association for Research on Cancer (IRAC) has classified CS as probably carcinogenic for humans (2A). This
classification is based on the findings of laboratory animal studies that were considered sufficient and data
from epidemiological studies that were considered limited for carcinogenicity. CS can also cause silicosis, a
noncancerous lung disease. CS has not been classified as a carcinogen by OSHA or NTP. Pigment dust would
not normally be encountered when handling a packaged paint product containing the pre-wetted pigment.
Proper respiratory protection should be worn when sanding a dried paint film due to the presence of CS.
Section XII ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Well-diluted product would have no environmental consequences. Less than 5% ethylene glycol present in these products
yield the following environmental fate considerations: Ethylene glycol is 100% volatile. Once volatilized it will react in the
atmosphere with hydroxyl radicals with a half-life on about 1 day. For accidental spills, note that ethylene glycol in typical
river water at 20°C was found to completely degrade in 3 days. At temperatures of 8°C, degradation occurred in 7 days.
Toxicity to fish: LD50 Carrasisus auratus (goldfish) greater than 5,000 gl/L/24 hour. Modified ASTM D 1345.
Algea:(Chlorella pyrenoidosa) 180,000 mg/L toxic.
Section XIII DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
