Small size
The compact design with only 2.5 mm housing diameter
at the probe tip is ideal for measurements of SMT com-
ponents. It provides a much better visibility over the de-
vice under test than conventional 5 mm housing designs.
A true PMK feature the exchangeable tip is also available
for the PML series. The gold-plated spring tip or the solid
tip are only 0.5 mm in diameter. The tip replacement is
easy and gives the engineer the best choice.
Low Input Capacitance
The standard 10:1 model with an input capacitance of less than 9.5 pF
is most appropriate for measurements of HF signals where a too high
load of the source signal can falsify the result and with particularly sen-
sitive SMT devices it can result in an „Overload“. A system input capaci-
tance (oscilloscope and probe) of less than 5.6 pF is available with the
20:1 model.
True Signal Acquisition on ICs
Particularly for HF measurements on ICs a short as possible ground con-
nection is recommendable. Due to long ground leads most conventional
adaptions bring additional inductance and resonances into the measurement
which will result in false or inaccurate readings. The innovative IC contacting
system of the PML series with 5 different IC adapters from 0.5 to 1.27 mm
pitch in combination with the Ground Blade and IC ground copper pad is ideal
for shortcircuit-safe, reproducible and authentic measurements.
