6. Remove the plastic top bumper cover.
You maybe abletoremovethetwo plastic
screwswithaPhillipsscrewdriver.Butitis
likelythey’re“frozen”inplaceandwillhaveto
bepriedupwiththepush-inretainerremoval
tool.

7. The factory “crash bar” is the semi-
rectangular tube which runs from one side
totheother,atthefrontoftheJeep’sframe,
justbehindthebumper(thebumpershould
already be removed at this point). The
lower corner of the crash bar at either end
must be trimmed for proper tment of the
RockBrawlerbumper.Useanabrasivecut-
offwheelorothersuitablecuttingtooltotrim
offtheendofthecrashbar.Yourcutshould
beadjacenttotheoutsideedgeofthefront
vertical support, or 7/8” inboard from the
outsideedgeoftheoutermostframebracket
asshowninFigure8.

Dothisforbothendsofthecrashbar.Use
aleordiegrindertode-burrthecutedge,
thenapplytouch-uppaintorclearcoattothe
exposed bare metal for protection against
corrosion.
8. Pre-installtheRockBrawler bumperonto
the frame. There are eight (8) threaded
studs located on the inside/backside of
the bumper, which will correspond with the
bumper mounting holes on the frame. It
maybeatighttduetoslightmanufacturing
variancesfromJeeptoJeep,butthebumper
willtwithsomegentlepersuasion.Youmay
needtousearubbermalletorsoftdead-blow
hammer to tap the bumper into place. Be
carefulnottomaryourpaintorpowdercoat
nish.
