PLACEMENT OPTIONS Because they are self-powered, your Atrium Loudspeakers allow you to bring sound into any room in your house. You can use them with electronics that feature both “MultiRoom” (“A” and “B” speaker settings) and “Multi-Zone” (separate control) features [figure 4]. Use them to add audiophile sound to your television, computer or portable music device [figures 5 & 6].
SELECTING AN ELECTRONIC SOURCE • Your Atrium Powered Speaker can be either the left or right speaker of a stereo pair, depending on convenient placement near a standard household AC power source. Use the “balance” control of your electronics to send the signal alternately to the left and then to the right. If you find stereo imaging is “backwards” after you’ve hooked up the Line Level inputs, simply switch the 1 & 2 inputs to flip-flop the Left & Right stereo images.
MONO/STEREO SETTING Use this switch [figure 11] to improve imaging, especially in remote room and long distance installations. • For the best acoustic performance, position your speakers 4 - 8 feet (240cm) apart on the same wall. Choose the “Stereo” setting to achieve successful stereo imaging. • If your speakers are far apart, or positioned in separate rooms, choose the “Mono” setting to send the same information to both speakers.
• Prior to installation, hold the speaker in the chosen location to make sure it safely clears obstacles such as ceiling, adjacent walls, corners, beams, lighting fixtures and door/window frames. • If there is no stud behind the wall at the chosen location, install #10 (M4.5) wall anchors (not supplied) into the wall by following the wall-anchor-manufacturer's instructions [figure 14b].
PREPARING TO PAINT: PAINTING YOUR ATRIUM LOUDSPEAKERS 1. Separate the parts of the speaker. Remove the brackets and bracket knobs. Remove the grille by carefully pushing forward on the sides [figure 18]. You will need: • A spray can of primer paint (Krylon Sandable Spray Primer #1318) • A spray can of the paint of your choice • Masking tape • Paint masks (craft paper cut to size to cover driver baffle and amplifier) 2.
