PMA-1 PERSONAL MONITOR AMPLIFIER PRODUCT MANUAL
THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING POLSEN. The PMA-1 personal headphone amplifier is perfect for monitoring your performance on stage or in the studio. The PMA-1 mixes a stereo or mono line-level signal from the aux out of a mixing board, sound card, or playback device. It allows you to blend or boost the volume of your performance independently from the rest of the track, and it lets you hear your performance with zero latency.
PREC AUTIONS • Please read and follow these instructions, and keep this manual in a safe place. • Exposure to high sound levels can cause permanent hearing loss. Avoid listening at high volumes for extended periods of time. • Use only the correct, recommended voltage. • Use only the power adapter included with this product. • Clean this product with only a soft, dry cloth. • Make sure that this product is intact and that there are no missing parts. • All images are for illustrative purposes only.

P O W E R I N G T H E P M A- 1 Plug the 12 V power cord into the power input, and plug the power adapter into an outlet. The LED will light up. C O N N E C T I N G T H E P M A- 1 Mic Input Connect the microphone to the Mic Input with a balanced XLR cable. Mic Thru Run a balanced XLR cable from the Mic Thru port to the mic input of a mixing console or sound board. Note: For condenser microphones, the PMA-1 does not supply its own phantom power, but it will pass along phantom power from a mixing board.
Headphones Connect headphones to the 1/4 or 1/8 in. headphone jack. Note: Do not use both headphones jacks simultaneously. O P E R AT I N G T H E P M A- 1 Mic Gain The Mic Gain knob controls the microphone volume in your headphones. This will increase or decrease the headphone volume of the microphone without affecting the signal level that’s sent to the mixing board. Monitor Level The volume of the Monitor Level knob controls the overall mix.
Stereo/Mono Switch Select stereo or mono, depending on the signal that’s sent to the Monitor Input. • If a TS (mono) connector is connected to the Monitor Input, select mono. • If a TRS (stereo) connector is connected to the Monitor Input, select stereo. Ground/Lift Switch When the PMA-1 is connected to a mixing board, the Ground/Lift switch should be in the up (LIFT) position. This will prevent the introduction of interference into the signal chain.
