ASSEMBLY Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with exception of those parts left unassembled for shipping purposes. To ensure safe and proper operation of your tractor all parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Use the correct tools as necessary to ensure proper tightness. TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY TO INSTALL STEERING WHEEL (See Fig. 2) A socket wrench set will make assembly easier. Standard wrench sizes are listed.
ASSEMBLY INSTALL SEAT (See Fig. 3) NOTE: You may now roll your tractor off the skid. Continue using the instructions that follow to remove the tractor from the skid. Ensure the area in front of tractor is clear of other people and objects. Adjust seat before tightening adjustment knob.

OPERATION The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs. We recommend a wide vision safety mask over spectacles or standard safety glasses. • HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR Never use the choke to stop the engine.
OPERATION TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT (See Fig. 9) TO OPERATE MOWER Your tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing switch. Any attempt by the operator to leave the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine. You must remain fully and centrally positioned in the seat to prevent the engine from hesitating or cutting off when operating your equipment on rough, rolling terrain or hills. • Select desired height of cut.
OPERATION BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS) (See Fig. 12) CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL Your tractor is equipped with a Reverse Operation System (ROS). Any attempt by the operator to travel in the reverse direction with the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine unless ignition key is placed in the ROS "ON" position. The engine in your tractor has been shipped from the factory already filled with summer weight oil. • Check engine oil with tractor on level ground.
OPERATION TO START ENGINE (See Fig. 4) MOWING TIPS When starting the engine for the first time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take extra cranking time to move fuel from the tank to the engine. • Sit on seat in operating position, depress clutch/brake pedal and set parking brake. • Place gear shift lever in neutral position. • Move attachment clutch to “DISENGAGED” position. • Move throttle control to choke position. NOTE: Before starting, read the warm and cold starting procedures below.

MAINTENANCE TRACTOR BLADE CARE For best results mower blades must be kept sharp. Replace bent or damaged blades. Always observe safety rules when per form ing any maintenance. BRAKE OPERATION If tractor requires more than five (5) feet (1,5 m) to stop at highest speed in highest gear on a level, dry concrete or paved surface, then brake must be checked and adjusted. (See “TO CHECK BRAKE” in the Service and Adjustments section of this manual.
MAINTENANCE V-BELTS OIL DRAIN HOLE Check V-belts for deterioration and wear after 100 hours of operation and replace if necessary. The belts are not adjustable. Replace belts if they begin to slip from wear. OIL DRAIN PLUG OIL DRAIN EXTENSION TRANSAXLE MAINTENANCE Keep transaxle free from build-up of dirt and chaff which can restrict cooling. Do not attempt to clean transaxle while engine is running or while the transaxle is hot.
MAINTENANCE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM (See Fig. 17) CLEANING (See Fig. 19) Debris may clog the engine's air cooling system. Remove blower housing and clean the area shown to prevent overheating and engine damage. • • CLEAN OUT CHAFF AND DEBRIS AIR SCREEN Clean engine, battery, seat, finish, etc. of all foreign matter. Clean debris from steering plate. Debris can restrict clutch/brake pedal shaft movement, causing belt slip and loss of drive. CAUTION: Avoid all pinch points and movable parts.
SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY, BEFORE PERFORMING ANY SERVICE OR ADJUSTMENTS: • Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and set parking brake. • Place gearshift lever in neutral position. • Place attachment clutch in “DISENGAGED” position. • Turn ignition key to “STOP” and remove key. • Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped. • Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug. SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO LEVEL MOWER FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT (See Figs. 28 & 29) IMPORTANT: Deck must be level side-to-side. Ensure tires are properly inflated to the PSI shown on tires. If tires are over or under inflated, it may affect the appearance of your lawn and lead you to think the mower is not adjusted properly.
SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 31) TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 30) Park the tractor on level surface. Engage parking brake. For assistance, there is a belt installation guide decal on bottom side of left footrest. The mower blade drive belt may be replaced without tools. Park the tractor on level surface. SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TRANSAXLE GEAR SHIFT LEVER NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT (See Fig. 32) TO ADJUST STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT If steering wheel crossbars are not horizontal (left to right) when wheels are positioned straight forward, remove steering wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly section of this manual. The transaxle should be in neutral when the gear shift lever is in neutral (lock gate) position.
SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS REPLACING BATTERY (See Fig. 35) TO REMOVE HOOD AND GRILL ASSEMBLY (See Fig. 36) WARNING: Do not short battery terminals by allowing a wrench or any other object to contact both terminals at the same time. Before connecting battery, remove metal bracelets, wristwatch bands, rings, etc. Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparking from ac ci den tal grounding. • • • • • • • • • • Raise hood. STORAGE ENGINE Immediately prepare your tractor for storage at the end of the season or if the tractor will not be used for 30 days or more. FUEL SYSTEM IMPORTANT: IT IS IMPORTANT TO PREVENT GUM DEPOSITS FROM FORMING IN ESSENTIAL FUEL SYSTEM PARTS SUCH AS CARBURETOR, FUEL FILTER, FUEL HOSE, OR TANK DURING STORAGE. ALSO, EXPERIENCE INDICATES THAT ALCOHOL BLENDED FUELS (CALLED GASOHOL OR USING ETHANOL OR METHANOL) CAN ATTRACT MOISTURE WHICH LEADS TO SEPARATION AND FORMATION OF ACIDS DURING STORAGE.

OPERACIÓN PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DE LA SEGADORA (Vea Fig. 9) PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORA Su tractor viene equipada con un interruptor sensor que exige la presencia del operador. Si el motor está funcionando y el embrague del accesorio está enganchado y el operador trata de bajarse del asiento, se apagará el motor. Tiene que mantenerse sentado completa y centralmente en el asiento para impedir que el motor vacile o se apague cuando se opere su equipo en terreno disparejo, áspero o en cerros.
OPERACIÓN ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR FUNCIONAMIENTO ATRÁS (ROS) (Vea Fig. 12) Tu tractor está equipado con el Sistema de Funcionamiento Atrás (ROS). Cualquier tentativa del operador de viajar marcha atrás con el embrague puesto apagará el motor a menos que la llave de ignición se ponga en la posición de “ON” del ROS. REVISE EL NIVEL DE ACEITE DEL MOTOR El motor de su tractor se envía de fábrica ya lleno con aceite de peso para verano.

MANTENIMENTO TRACTOR PRECAUCIÓN: Usar solamente la hojas de repuesto aprobada por el fabricante de su cortacésped. Usar una hoja no aprobada por el fabricante de su cortacésped es peligroso, puede dañar su cortacésped y anular su garantía. Siempre observe las reglas de seguridad cuando dé mantenimiento.
MANTENIMENTO CORREAS "V" ORIFICIO DE DRENAJE DEL ACEITE Revise las correas "V" para verificar si existe deterioro y desgaste después de 100 horas de operación y cámbielas si es necesario. Las correas no son ajustables. Cambie las correas si empiezan a deslizarse debido al desgaste. TAPÓN DE DRENAJE EXTENSOR DE DRENAJE DEL ACEITE ENFRIAMIENTO DEL TRANSEJE Mantenga el transeje sin acumulación de mugre o paja que puede restringir el enfriamiento.
MANTENIMENTO LIMPIEZA (Vea Fig. 19) SISTEMA DE ENFRIAMIENTO DE AIRE (Vea Fig. 17) • Los escombros pueden atascar el sistema de enfriamiento de aire de motor. Remueva la cubierta del soplador y limpie el área mostrada para evitar el recalentamiento y daños al motor. • LIMPIE EL DESPERDICIO Y LOS ESCOMBROS REJILLA DE AIRE Limpie todo material extraño del motor, la batería, el asiento, el pulido, etc. Limpie los desechos de la placa guía.
SERVICIO Y AJUSTES ADVERTENCIA: PARA EVITAR LESIÓNES SERIAS, ANTES DE DAR CUALQUIER SERVICIO O DE HACER AJUSTES: • Presione el pedal del embrague/freno completamente y aplique el freno de estacionamiento. • Ponga la palanca de cambios en la posición de neutro (N). • Ponga el embrague del accesorio en la posición desenganchado (DISENGAGED). • Ponga la llave de ignición en la posición de apagado (STOP) y remuévala. • Asegúrese que las cuchillas y que todas las partes movibles se hayan detenido completamente.

SERVICIO Y AJUSTES PARA NIVELAR LA SEGADORA AJUSTE DE DELANTE A ATRÁS (Vea Fig. 28 y 29) Asegúrese de que los neumáticos estén inflados a la PSI que se indica en estos. Si están demasiado inflados o poco inflados, el césped no le quedará bien cortado, lo cual podrá llevarlo a pensar que la segadora no está bien regulada. IMPORTANTE: El piso debe quedar bien nivelado de lado a lado.

Ponga el freno de mano. En caso que necesite asistencia, del lado de abajo del apoyapiés izquierdo hay una guía práctica para el montaje de la correa. La correa de la cuchilla de la segadora se puede cambiar sin herramientas. Estacione el tractor en una superficie nivelada.
