The oils contains many protective additives to minimize wear, mop up soot, sludge and metallic particles, neutralize acids, trap water and have preservative properties. They are also adapted to the special demands of low emission engines. Leisure craft engines are often subject to greater wear than other engines.

3 COOLING SYSTEM The cooling system is an extremely important part of the engine assembly. A correct working temperature contributes to a longer operational lifespan of the engine and improved fuel economy. It is also important from a safety aspect. With a correctly dimensioned and correctly installed cooling system, overheating of the engine, unnecessary stoppages and expensive repairs due to engine failure, can be avoided.
Expansion tank A separate expansion tank for engine coolant can be installed in an easily accessible position and thereby make checking and filling of the system considerably easier. The tank is manufactured of a semi-transparent material to enable the checking of the coolant level. Material: Plastic Installation: Max 1.2 metres above the highest point of the engine. Neutra-Salt power takeoff Neutra-Salt engine flushing kit Designed for both freshwater- and saltwater-cooled engines that have an engine-driven sea-water pump. PROPELLER SHAFT COUPLING The Volvo Penta two-piece rigid propeller shaft coupling is designed to make installation much easier and less time consuming. It requires no costly machining and thanks to the two-piece conic design, the coupling is perfectly centred onto the propeller shaft. Fixed propellers for Saildrive ANODES Volvo Penta’s S-drive propellers are manufactured of aluminium, developed to withstand salt water and cavitation damage. The propellers are manufactured to a high and consistent quality under rigid quality controls. Anodes are to be sacrificed in order to protect the drive unit and propeller against galvanic corrosion. safety & Comfort AIR HEATER The air heater extracts heat from the engine’s cooling system, which would otherwise be wasted, and transfers it into the cabin. A fan circulates air through a heat exchanger. The air heater makes it possible to make use of the engine closed-circuit cooling system without additional water pipes and radiators. EXCHANGE SYSTEM Sound absorbent panels The sound absorbants have a very good isolating and absorbing effect with a density of 100 kg/m3 (6,24 lb / ft3), and are well adapted to the noise frequency and noise level of marine engines (see diagram). They are made of recycled foam, which has a combination of weight and porosity that both insulates and absorbs. Two versions The sound absorbants are sold in sheets of 500 mm x 1000 mm (20 in x 40 in), they are easy to handle both in transport and when mounted.

Each kit contains zinc anodes, drive gaiters and all parts required for an annual drive service. It’s an advantage to change all consumable parts of the ignition system at the same time.
