10.9
With a few key presses you can add intervals to selected notes (in the same time values)
by using the numeric keypad, if you have one on your computer keyboard. This can be a
signicant time saver when you need intervals played with the same time values.
Doubling with octaves.
Double Notes at a Given Interval
1. Ensure you are in Edit mode.
2. Make sure you have ‘Default Numpad’ selected in Preferences>General>Numeric pad
3. Highlight contiguous notes (you can include rests – they will be skipped over) or click-select scattered notes.
4. To add an interval above the selected note(s), go to your numeric keypad and press:
8 for octaves (up)
7 for sevenths
6 for sixths
5 for fths
4 for fourths
3 for thirds
2 for seconds
5. To add an interval below the selected notes, hold down Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac), before typing the required interval
number on the numberpad (e.g. Ctrl+8 to add an octave below)
Break Out Parts As Dierent Voices
By default, you produce a simple doubling in the same voice. To break out the original
and doubled parts as separate voices for multi-voice mode operations you:
1. Complete the previous procedure.
2. Then click-select all notes in either voice (top or bottom, but do not mix). A highlight will not work here. For best
results, do only one measure at a time.
3. Go to the Menu bar and select Tools > Swap Voices.
» The notes separate. Usually, mixed stem directions make the notes hard to read, so there are two more
steps to complete.
4. Make one change to one voice. Highlight the entire measure (now highlight will work).
5. Go to the Menu bar and select Tools > Swap Voices a second time.
