Send audio to Notion
You can send a 16bit 44.1k wav audio mixdown from Studio One to Notion - this doesn’t ‘notate’ the audio, rather it
attaches the audio as is to a new score, that can now be triggered at any point.
Having audio attached to a score in Notion is useful for a number of reasons:
-For transcription - needing to arrange, or add parts to existing audio by ear is made much easier, by having a synced
version of the audio that you can start/loop anywhere.
-For triggering audio samples (eects, audio, narration, samples) during a live performance with Notion’s NTempo feature
-For adding a solo instrument or voice, over the top of a virtual orchestra, to create a great sounding demo track. You can
sync the tempo to the audio with the NTempo sta.
1. To send audio, either:
- Go to Song>Send to Notion.
- Or: Go to Song>Export Mixdown, and select ‘Send to Notion’ in the Publishing drop down
- Or: Right click the audio le in the Studio One browser, and select ‘Send to Notion’
2. Select whether to merge into an existing score (updating a previous transfer) or to create a new document
3. Studio One will transfer to Notion and include the initial tempo and time signatures, the tempo track, and any
customised markers in your song, alongside the audio mixdown
4. It will set up a one line sta, and attach your audio to it (you can then see this sta in the mixer, to adjust playback
volume and panning if required)
If the tempo track in Studio One was synced to the audio, then the tempo track will have transferred to Notion and will
remain in sync. If not, you can either sync before transfer (check out Melodyne in Studio One for beat and time signature
detection), or you can do it manually in Notion after you’ve transferred...
To sync tempo of the score to the newly attached audio le:
-Add an NTempo sta from score setup
-Place your cursor on the NTempo line, where the audio le is due to start
-Go to Tools>Record Performance, or click the Record Performance icon in the Transport
-Use either your computer keyboard, or a MIDI keyboard to advance the tempo (see Help>NTempo tutorial) - the audio
le will start, you just need to tap along keeping in tempo. Notion will then remember your performance and keep the
score in sync with the audio le
